Food was subpar for the price. Drinks were made wrong and tasted watered down. Host was the most personable person. Waitress didn’t seem like anything mattered other than we were another customer. Food was eh for what it was. Best thing was the filet was the best part of both our meals. First time being there and won’t go back. A LOT of signs saying dress code strictly enforced but most were not in the required business casual. Makes a “date night” where you dress up seem a waste. Atmosphere seem good until you looked around and realized it was just a reg restaurant that with low lighting to make it seem elegant. Definitely won’t be back after that and the price we paid for mediocre food.

Had to remind waiter to bring salads. After being reminded he brought them out about 2 min before one entree was being delivered…not both(big no no). We asked them to hold until finishing salads. The steaks are always perfect at Char! Highly recommend them! Overall still our favorite restaurant in Jackson area just have new staff I guess. Maybe a little more training.

Reserved a table for two and was promptly greeted when we arrived at the restaurant. As a long time customer of Char going back to the days when it first opened, the restaurant has undergone some changes, with expansion to accommodate larger groups. The service and quality of food remains top notch. Our server was both attentive and well versed in addition to having a great sense of humor. He checked on us multiple times during our visit and told us he was with Char when it first opened, left for awhile and has been back working part time

Great food and service! No filler crab cakes, scallops, steak all cooked to perfection. Pecan pie and blueberry bread pudding - amazing

Char offers an exceptional dining experience that seamlessly blends classic American cuisine with modern flair. From the moment you walk through the doors, you're welcomed into an atmosphere of understated elegance, perfect for any special occasion or an upscale night out. We began our meal with the Crab Cakes and the Charcuterie Board. The Crab Cakes were exquisite, packed with fresh, succulent crab meat and complemented by a flavorful remoulade sauce. The Charcuterie Board was a delightful array of artisanal cheeses, cured meats, and pickled vegetables, beautifully arranged and perfect for sharing. For the main course, I chose the New York Strip, cooked to perfection at medium-rare. The steak was tender, juicy, and seasoned impeccably, served with a rich red wine reduction that added depth to every bite. My companion opted for the Redfish, which was a revelation. The fish was flaky and moist, served over a bed of creamy risotto with a delicate citrus beurre blanc that elevated the dish to new heights. We paired our mains with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Sautéed Spinach. The mashed potatoes were creamy and infused with just the right amount of garlic, while the spinach retained its vibrant color and a perfect texture, providing a fresh counterpoint to the richness of our main dishes. To finish, we indulged in the Mississippi Mud Pie. This dessert was a chocolate lover's dream, with a crispy crust, velvety chocolate filling, and a generous dollop of whipped cream. It was the perfect end to a fantastic meal. Char boasts an impressive wine list and a variety of handcrafted cocktails. We enjoyed a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon that paired wonderfully with our meal, enhancing the flavors of our dishes. The cocktail menu also offered creative options that we’re eager to try on our next visit. The service was impeccable from start to finish.
