Our server, Chris, was excellent. Not only personable but very knowledgeable about both the food and the wine. The Romanian wine we chose, a red blend, was very good. Appetizers were good. The entrees were excellent overall though of the four dishes at the table, my chicken paprikas was #4 out of 4. The lamb chops my dad got were really amazing and my stepmom's Saccottini Vanessa and husband's Hungarian goulash were right up there with the lamb. Chris mentioned that grandma was not in the kitchen that night and I believe him. I'm pretty sure my chicken paprikas had been made in advance and reheated because one end of the dish was very hot and the other cold. Mixed up, it tasted good and warm all over but it was unexpected to not have it made fresh. I did not complain because, overall, it was fine but not mind-blowing. My husband got bread with his goulash but the other meals did not receive bread as a rule. We had to order it as a side and I think that's a mistake on the part of the restaurant because the bread was fabulous. We shared two desserts, the profiteroles and the Romanian doughnuts with fresh berry jam. The doughnuts definitely won that round. Very unusual texture. They smelled as great as they tasted. Despite my particular meal being a bit disappointing, I would go back to Chanta because the other meals at the table were fantastic.
