Afternoon tea came out tasty but the staff and table service were extremely poor.

Travelled from Manchester after booking this in March. After travelling down got a voice message in the evening before the booking to say they had cancelled booking. Have emailed and received no response. Very poor customer service.

Overall, other than the staff, it was disappointing and expensive for what we received. The scones looked like they came from a packet rather than freshly made. The other cakes were ok but nothing special. The sandwiches came in 3’s which is annoying when there are 2 of you ( 2 or 4 but not 3 please). We were the only ones having afternoon tea so there was no atmosphere. I realise this is new to champneys tring so hopefully it will improve. However, I am not sure whether I would pay the price to do again.

The food was delicious 😋 a nice selection of sandwiches and sweets and the procecco was also a nice touch .would definitely go again

Even though I had several emails and texts confirming this booking Champneys didn't have it in their system. This was frustrating and embarrassing as it was a special birthday treat for my friend. The Restaurant Manager was rude and abrasive making us feel uncomfortable. He was not prepared to deal with an issue we had with the food which could have been resolved very easily. Otherwise it was a nice tea overall but the customer service let it down.

The room was nice but dirty, table left with breadcrumbs, floor also in a need of hoover, spider webs all around ceiling. The arm chair we sat on was wet. The staff was friendly but didn't come to ask if we needed anything else once the food arrived. The food itself was very basic, sandwiches were quite plain, you can get much better stuff from Costco. I would not recommend it.

A huge disappointment I booked for my friends 60th an afternoon tea. Absolute disgrace! Expected to be sitting in the lovely restaurant but we were put in the canteen. Not exactly the ambiance I expected for my friend. Food was an absolute disgrace not what I expected from Champneys. Been to many places for beautiful afternoon teas at half the price. But wanted it to be special which is why I chose champneys. Service! I have had better in a builders cafe. When we asked for extra cream and jam because what they gave us was only enough for one, we were told no! There was no attentiveness with regards customer service. My friend actually complained on my behalf as I was so upset that I had drove an hour to treat my friend and arrived at such a below parr experience. The toilet sink was dirty and the water was brown. And if that wasn’t enough a mouse ran across the drawing room floor while we were sitting having coffee that a lovely little blond manager had brought us in a way to offer an apology.

Afternoon Tea. Disappointing .Was brought this as a gift. Asked for no fish half the sandwiches were the same cheese and tomato. Bread tasted like it was left out, made a while and dry. Personally an odd combination crème fraiche with egg sandwiches and with scones! Tea was not hot. All in all not a good experience shame as it was a retirement gift.

Not impressed at all, put on very small table in cafe, not dining room. Loud music playing and no glass of bubbly offered as advertised.
