I have only heard good things about Chama Gaucha, and was not disappointed. I’ve experienced Brazilian steakhouses before, and so was familiar with the process. However, upon hearing my girlfriend had not, our server hospitably explained the courses and cards (green if you would like to be brought more meats, red if you would not). Service was excellent. Upon being seated, they took our overcoats, pulled out our chairs. etc., and throughout the night our drinks were never near empty, and our waiter was tremendously vigilant, clear, and attentive. All staff operate with an effortless precision which greatly compliments the experience.
As for the food, it was exemplary. The salad bar selections were always well stocked, fresh, tastefully prepared and arranged, and of course delicious; though we were wise enough to save room for the main course. The complimentary Brazilian cheesy bread balls were an even fiercer temptation as they too will be provided seemingly without end per your request. We had the sirloin, ribeye, filet, lamb chops, and one or two other cuts whose names have since escaped me; all of which were seasoned appropriately and cooked to perfection. My girlfriend became full quickly, which came as little surprise, however I must have consumed at least a dozen selections (many doubled or tripled of course). Warm, mashed potatoes were provided with a tasteful array of toppings, as well as some sweet, delectable roasted plantains (though I was unsure if this is common or because we were celebrating an anniversary). Similarly, because of the occasion a dessert was complimentary, as our server told us “tonight is about celebrated you”, which was charming.
A general sense of class, brilliant service, and excellent food for a truly wonderful value made Chama Gaucha San Antonio an overall memorable and enjoyable experience.
