This place is magical. It is beautifully decorated and shabby chic. I would return for the vibe alone. This was my second time and it was still great. My daughter had a grilled chicken sandwich and she loved it. I had the chicken and cranberry spread sandwich which I loved. We ordered a pot of the lemon tea and it was delicious and I’m not traditionally a tea drinker. There’s always people coming and going. A must try.

Three of us had a lovely, leisurely afternoon tea at this Torrance Chado Tea Room. We were able to pick the tea sandwiches and the type of tea from the extensive menu. Michael provided us good service and a description of the sandwich flavors. The interior decorations are interesting. There is a mural depicting the history of tea, many styles of tea pots and cups on wall shelves, tea in jars and other tea accessories for sale.

Scones were not great! I have a hard time with a tea house screwing up a scone. And they didn’t give us enough jam and cream. The desserts are very slim pickings. I think they can do better. The salad was great and the sandwiches were good. The ambience is grade the furnishings and the picture opportunities are fabulous. It’s a great value for the amount of money that they charge but the food can be a little bit better especially the scones.

One of the gems of LA - this is one of the best places for high tea I have been to, and that includes high tea in London, Paris, and NYC. Exquisite selection of teas.

I enjoyed the experience however the service was lacking. Would return and try one of the sandwiches or salads. The 3 tier is pricey for what you get

Afternoon on Monday is really nice without the crowds. My guests from Japan and I had a lovely lunch!

Not at all worth the money. Store bought food, strangely hostile employees. We saw one of the servers get aggressive with a guest while we were there. Gluten free options are very poor.

This is a popular place for gatherings! When I arrived, the line to check in was out the door and the host was busy filling other roles. Even though I both listed Gluten Free and called ahead, it was a pretty disappointing experience. Perhaps one should have low expectations at a tea room for GF eating, but the website and menu both assure “gluten free options available.” And they are, but well…they are lame. They offered tea sandwiches on GF bread, and strawberries and cream. No scones. No pastries. Folks clearly don’t come here often on their own; as a solo diner I was stuck in a back corner by a drafty doorway and kitchen and nearly forgotten. After hearing about the limited GF options, I chose a salad that was served to me with no dressing…and regular bread. I was also poured a cup of tea with zero tea accompaniments, but provided honey quickly when finally asked. Although everyone I interacted with was kind and friendly, overall it was a disappointing experience. If you have a duo or group, you will likely really enjoy your time here.

This was our second Mother’s Day we spent at the Chado Room. So happy this place is so close to home. Such a beautiful place to enjoy tea and finger sandwiches. Atmosphere, food and service were great 😊 My daughter came out from Ohio to join us, Chado Room made our day feel even more special.
