The Cellar on Penn is a satellite location of R Wine Cellar - Winery. All wines are made in the heart of the Strip District from grapes sourced from all over the world- Chile, California, and local Pennsylvania grapes. The Cellar serves wines by the glass, bottle, and flight, while also rotating handcrafted cocktails and locally sourced beers. Stop by for a glass, bottle sales to go, or a private wine tasting event! Enjoy cheeses and charcuterie, light bites, as well as a full dinner menu!

Private Wine Tastings are $42 plus tax per attendee, for a selection of eight R Wine Cellar wines accompanied by bread and cheeses. We can accommodate groups of 2 or more. These events are held at the Cellar on Penn, 2031 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh PA, 15222. Plan on Private Tastings lasting for 90-120 minutes. After booking online, please call us at (412)562-9463 to confirm any details. Tastings can be booked for Tuesday through Sunday, during any regular business hours. Gratuity is included, but let our servers know if they have gone above and beyond!

Wine and Dine Wednesdays! 3 Course Dinner Cheese Plate Two artisanal cheeses, grapes, and crostini or crackers. Salad Mixed greens, red onion, grape tomatoes, English cucumber, croutons, and your choice of inhouse dressing. Choice of Pasta: Capellini Pasta, Crab Meat, Vodka Sauce infused with R Wine Cellar Riesling or Rigatoni Pomodoro with house-made marinara and meatballs. Add a Wine Pairing for only $10! Unfortunate evening! Our reservations were for 6:30pm. We had another event reserved for 8:00pm two blocks away. We placed our appetizer order. We wanted to place our dinner order at the same time because we were on a schedule for the other event. The server said not to place the entree order yet. He’d be back. After the appetizer was delivered, we placed our entree order and stressed to him, again, that we were on a schedule. He said we wouldn’t have any problems. 10 minutes later he came to the table to say that the chef said the salmon would take at least 15 minutes (putting us way too close to the time we needed to leave). He offered us a free round of drinks. It took an extra 20 minutes to get three pasta dishes and one salmon dish to our table. It is important to know that besides the four of us, there was only ONE other table of five. The rest of the place was completely empty. When our dinners finally arrived, we immediately asked for boxes and the check. We needed to get out asap. The server said he’d get them immediately. He disappeared and then returned, not to come to our table but to check on the other table. After a few minutes, he disappeared again and then returned with the check and boxes. While we were waiting for the check and the boxes, we tried to eat a little before he returned. The pasta dishes weren’t even hot. It was clear that they sat out while the salmon was being prepared. All of this could have been avoided if he had taken our dinner order when we wanted to place it (with the app order). He was well aware of our other plans and the restaurant was certainly not busy.

We had an absolutely lovely afternoon tasting wines. There was no rushing and we learned about each wine. Just a fun afternoon!

Beautiful atmosphere inside. Enjoyed our wine and music. Dinner service was very slow. Appetizers took forever to arrive. Lobster mac and cheese is not real lobster. Steak was delicious. Pricing reasonable. Overall it was an average experience.

Cellar on Penn was a great find! Absolutely amazing food with lobster Mac and cheese and salmon baklava. Our server was kind, considerate, and very engaging. Very pleased to find this gem in Pittsburgh with a great atmosphere, wine, and nice people!

Great atmosphere, great experience, great staff, just overall great experience. The wine is delicious, the food is delicious, and the price is very reasonable. I give the highest recommendation to experience a great wine tasting and dinner at R.

Music was great. But, they were totally understaffed and not prepared for an event. Took an hour for a sandwich. The waitresses were working so hard, not their faults.

The chicken and waffles were amazing. I’d go back today to have them. The brunch menu was awesome and had a great selection for the kids. I had the sangria which was your typical nice sangria. Somehow a meal wasn’t put in(two of us ordered the same thing) and they made it right. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. All around was a great experience and my second favorite brunch place so far.

Awesome brunch on the patio! We enjoyed the cellar steak and egg bowl, the chicken and waffles, and the funnel cake french toast. Loved the carmenere and fiona wine samples, too.

The absolute worst. Service was terrible. Waited 20 minutes for drinks. The food was awful. It was almost like they were trying to be bad.
