First visit since change of ownership/management having received good reports from friends. We would not rave about the place to the extent they did but the food was good even if the menu is fairly narrow. The service also was good but our overriding take from our visit was the reverberating noise which was continuous and at a level which made conversation nigh on impossible. It was not that the other tables were at all noisy, simply that the acoustics are atrocious. Background music was switched on midway through our meal but it instantly become 100% lost in the general din of the room.

Lovely meal in lovely surrounding. Even had a card on our table wishing us a happy anniversary which was a nice touch.

Food is great and as good as the boars - however clearly having teething issues. They had run out of Sunday roasts by 3pm, woefully under staffed, car parking inadequate. Hopefully just teething issues but we reserved a table in the restaurant - but clearly they cannot keep up with casual demand from the beer garden. Staff were doing their best but when we sat down we were told low on lamb but everything else available - when we eventually ordered they were out of everything. Until they manage to sort out these issues I wouldn’t recommend booking a table. Two tables sitting around us got up and left - we were too hungry - luckily the food is nice.

A tough meal, very short staffed and stressed which led to a stressful atmosphere and very poor service. Bar absolutely full of dirty glasses, slow service, nobody to seat us, and unfortunately food was not great. They kindly reflected this in the bill. Shame as we’re local. Will give it a while to settle down before trying again.

The Cellar House is very convenient to us, ambiance is always good. Staff friendly. We had a girls gathering there this week, unfortunately after perusing the menu for a considerable time we came to the conclusion there was nothing on the menu we wanted for lunch ...the menu seems geared for evening/ dinner. A number of small plates choices suggesting you would be requiring at least 3, and the Light bites ( toasted sandwiches) Overall everything was highly priced.. £13 for a toastie? Such a shame there is nothing appealing they can offer at a lunch time price of say £10.95.

Had an afternoon Sunday tea with my family, my little grandson loved the sandpit, there was a great musician playing, food was excellent and service superb, I shall definitely be back, a lovely pub with pub garden.
