It’ll be hard to find a restaurant as welcoming and lovely as Celeste. The Union Square spot feels like a party hosted by your very cool artsy friends, who just happen to make the best ceviche in town. Every dish here is tantalizing—throw in pisco-heavy drinks and a psychedelic cumbia playlist, and you’re in for the very best of Andean culture.
Recently included in The New York Times Best restaurants in Boston, Chef JuanMa and co-owner Maria Rondeau have been nominated for James Beard Best New Restaurant Semi-Finalist, Esquire's Best Restaurants in America, and Eater's Best Restaurant in Boston.

D'après les éditeur·rices d'OpenTable : Somerville compte d'excellents restaurants péruviens, mais Celeste a toujours su se démarquer. Eater Boston l'a d'ailleurs nommé restaurant de l'année lors de son ouverture en 2018. Cela tient au fait que le chef et propriétaire JuanMa Calderon recrée les recettes qu'il a apprises de sa mère et de sa grand-mère dans un espace confortable et épuré, qui donne l'impression de se trouver à table au domicile même de Calderon et de sa partenaire Maria Rondeau. Vous pourrez y déguster certains des meilleurs ceviches de la ville, du ragoût andin carapulcra au porc et au poulet, et des cocktails colorés qui rendent hommage aux alcools et boissons péruviens comme le pisco et la chicha.

The drinks were outstanding. The food was good not great. For two of us drinks, apps, entree and one dessert $200 with tip. Service was very good. I had no idea the restaurant only seats 20. If you’re seated at the bar as we were every time someone comes or goes the Arctic air blasts you.

This is hands down my favorite restaurant in New England, and easily one of the top 3 restaurants I’ve ever been to, period. From the cocktails to the ceviche, you know you’ll have a great start to your meal. The black squid ink pasta with scallops, and tacu tacu with seared fish are two incredible main dishes. The service is great and the venue is intimate. This is a must try restaurant!

The menu is unique. I especially like the tomato and avacado causas, Scallops with squid ink fetuccini, and Tacu Tacu. The Peruvian beer is very flavorful. Unfortunately, we didn;t have room for dessert.

This was the best ceviche I’ve ever had! Plus the margarita was refreshing and the tacu-tacu was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend!
