We went for dinner last night looking forward to trying a new place. Ordered the mushroom arancini, which came on a thin bed of mashed potatoes. They were tasty and a perfect sized appetizer for two to share. Then we ordered the crabcakes and the mahi-mahi. The crabcakes came on a thin layer of the same mashed potatoes, along with something that was supposed to be a zucchini, but I mistook for an eggplant. It was cooked to an indistinguishable mush. The mahi-mahi also came on a thin layer of the same mashed potatoes along with the same overcooked piece of zucchini. The crabcakes were not good. They were full of filler and cheap, fine crab meat. Not a lump in sight. The mahi-mahi was over cooked and fairly tasteless. We did convey our concerns to the waiter who is very nice, but he said he’d convey our thoughts to the chef the next day because even though this was a Friday night, the chef was apparently not on duty. There did not seem to be a lot of cooking going on in this restaurant. My impression was that all of the proteins were cooked in advance, and were kept in a sous vide holding tank until they were needed. The sides that were served with these proteins were mediocre or worse. I’ve had had better meals at catered weddings. The restaurant was half empty. I see no reason to go here again.

Very nice experience at Cavu. The atmosphere was so nice. We ate outside by the pool. Our server was great! He was efficient and friendly. The food was delicious. We started with the tuna appetizer which was fresh and flavorful. My husband had salmon and I had mahi mahi. Both were prepared very well with a delicious but not overbearing sauce. Overall we had a very pleasant dinner!

Kathryn our waitress was excellent! Nice sitting on patio and looking at pool. Was not a hot evening so staff accommodated our request to turn off overhead fans. The salmon with bernaise sauce was very tasty. The crab cakes were lacking in much identifiable crab (there was some) and were spicier than anticipated. The mushroom fettuccine had good flavor but the mushrooms in the dish did not appear to be wild mushrooms as advertised.

This is the new restaurant located at The Pan American. I wonder if they’re still in the working out the kinks stage. The atmosphere is slow. Meaning this is a nice, easy, slow- enjoy talking to your date for a long time slow. We were ready to order as soon as we got there since we had checked out the menu before. When our server arrived he was nice but he was trying to make this an experience and we just wanted to get dinner. We gave our order and got our drinks and then waited more than 40 minutes to get our food. It seemed he put the orders in for the others that were already seated and waiting before putting in our request. That’s fine, we get it. The food was good. Prices are typical for a higher end restaurant.

The experience was fantaatic! Server Dillon was very accomodating, knowledgeable and ingratiating. Food was excellent. Prepared well and very tssty! Definitely on our go back to list!
