Booked a table as staying in accommodation at Leeds Castle, received a nice welcome , friendly staff member and shown to table. Order was taken and food was delivered quickly. Both ordered the fish and chips. Unfortunately the chips had been far too heavily salted for our taste buds. The battered cod, although hot, was really soggy, batter not crisp at all, and to make matters worse had been laid on the crushed peas, so steam from the peas had added to the soggy batter. Once finished eating what we could, waited ages for plates to be cleared, in the end gave up and went to pay, so no desserts ordered or coffee etc. Would appear that other tables were also waiting for their plates to be cleared and gave up as well - not sure if just short staffed. Did mention the disappointment in the dinner when paying and the staff were extremely apologetic and discounted the bill ( this was not our request at all) it was a shame, as our wedding anniversary, lovely restaurant and of course over looking Leeds Castle to should have been a fab evening.

We stayedfor two nights and had booked a table for both. The view from the restaurant was beautiful. Overall the food was fine, but for £90 for two of us we weren't blown away. The service was also just fine. Nothing special! We ate elsewhere the night after. I want to highlight though, the breakfast was abysmal. It was undercooked and made both me and my partner fell ill afterwards. We opted to check out without breakfast on our last morning so that we could get a mcdonalds. The hotel is lovely, but the food overall was shocking and not worth the money charged. We got better food at a pub called the potting shed for half the cost.

Poor service, so bad in fact we didn’t even eat. We were ignored time and time again, it took 15 minutes for someone to even come over to our table and when we apologised and said we were going else where the waitress couldn’t of cared a less. The manager on shift was beyond rude time and time again. His attitude and stroppiness was completely unnecessary, and I suggest he could into another career as hospitality is clearly not for him. The 3 star for food was actually for breakfast we had the next morning. The younger morning staff were all very friendly and attentive.

Sadly it was disappointing especially as it was a birthday occasion. The service was poor, it took sometime to order pre dinner drinks. The starter plates were still at the table when they bought out the main course.. No one asked if we like coffee , we had to aak if we could order. The menu was ‘nice’ but not overly inspiring. The summer linguine was tasty but incredibly spicy, chilli over riding any other flavour. This is all such a shame as it’s such a beautiful setting but disappointing.

The experience, views and food were lovely but the service leaves a lot to be desired! We waited to be seated for 10 minutes as several members of staff walked past us, we were greeted by a very unfriendly gentleman! When ordering food we were told we were ordering “too much” and he continued to comment on what we were ordering and eating! Takes 15 minutes for them to bring you your drink and about an hour for tables surrounding you to be cleared which means if you sit outside expect to be visited by seagulls eating the food scraps! After we complained about how we were spoken to by the gentleman waiter we were still expected to pay the full bill and were told “people have complained about him before”!

Thank you for your review, the member of staff involved has been spoken to and he assures me he commented from a place of kindness not wanting you to order to much and not be able to eat it all. He sends his sincere apologies, if any offence was caused. Unfortunately our outside tables are frequented by birds, we do try to warn guests of this if they chose to dine outside. I am sorry that your dining experience didn't live up to your expectations on this occasion and hope that it has not put you off visiting us again in the future.

Menu was limited and wasn't impressed with the taste. Only meal that was acceptable was Fish and Chips. Also not impressed with being being charged for water £3.90. Bottle was a plain bottle (No label) that was refillable, Service was good but on one visit we had to ask twice for the sweet menu from the older waiter. In general the young girls were very good. For selection of food would rather go to the pub up the road. The view from the restaurant the view was excellent.

The waiter was very helpful and offered some suggestions on what to have and offered help if there were any specific dietary requirements which was great as my parents are vegetarian but also don't eat egg. The bang bang cauliflower was delicious but would have loved it in a bigger portion as we were a party of 7. We could have done with a second round of side plates for everyone and the kids loved the desserts. The restaurant was very welcoming and we enjoyed spending our time at Castle View Restaurant.
