Caruso's Grocery in Pike and Rose is modeled after the classic, Italian-American "red sauce" joint. You know the one: nostalgic photos on the walls , a killer chicken parmesan, Sinatra pouring through the speakers.     The food was excellent . The trout piccata was very flavorful. Alex was a great waiter. My only criticism is that the dirty martini was less than anticipated. Another diner also disliked his antipasto martini. Maybe an updated bartender would be of benefit.

    Amazing appetizers with the meatballs and the Panzella Salad Special. Great main dishes also. The spicy ragu, the alfredo and the veal were standouts from my group. Great service and it was a little empty so it was quieter than last time we went. Great over all!

    Sooo loud! Really strained to hear companion right across the table. Marinara sauce was excellent. Chicken Parmesan portion very generous

    The food and atmosphere was great! We just didn’t like that the bread was served cold and our order took a very long time to be ready. Also the gnocchi special plate was very small for the value.

    Pasta was definitely store-bought. 1/2 of our meals were hot; the other 1/2 was lukewarm. It was loud. Tightly packed tables- sitting next to strangers as if they’re part of your party. Waiter was slow to refill drinks. Not worth $23/plate.

    Our experience started out great because our server and waiter were very personable. But later we had a problem we feel was not adequately addressed. There were 4 of us at the table - my husband, our 2 guests and me. Our waiter took our orders and the entrees were brought to our table by other staff (I call them "servers"). My husband's entrée was not delivered. We notified one of the servers and he said "they" will probably bring it out later. There was no offer to check on it. It never came out. I finally got the attention of our primary waiter and told him about the missing entrée. He went back to check on it and when he came out, he said he had turned in the order and it would be out soon. And then he said "Sorry about that." It finally came out, but by this time, our guests had finished their entrees. My husband ended up taking most of his meal home instead of eating it at the restaurant. It's been our previous experience that when the primary waiter does not bring the food to the table, that person will check very soon (pretty much immediately) after the food is delivered to make sure everything is okay. That was not done in this case. In addition, because it was a very hot night, we were drinking a lot of water in addition to our alcoholic beverages. The first 2 bottles of water we got were still water and very refreshing. However, the 3rd bottle was sparkling water (which we did not ask for) and was not as good tasting or refreshing. It seems the bottles could have been better labeled so the servers can differentiate between the different types of waters. Over all, we felt we should have gotten better service for the price we paid for the meals.

    Great food and service. The server, chef and manager all went above and beyond for us. My partner related some food issues to the server so the server had the chef come to our table and explain how the dishes that we wanted could be made and served to accommodate that. Then the server and the chef and the manager all stopped by to make sure we were happy. Amazing experience!

    My friend Colby and I went to have a girl’s dinner and it was amazing. The food was so good, the service was extraordinary, and the place was clean and very quaint. I can’t say enough about the food and the service provided. We will absolutely go back!
