Caruso's Grocery in Pike and Rose is modeled after the classic, Italian-American "red sauce" joint. You know the one: nostalgic photos on the walls , a killer chicken parmesan, Sinatra pouring through the speakers.     This was a very poor experience overall, for a restaurant that is quite highly rated in DC. The front of the house was cold and not cordial. We came in soaked from the rain. We asked them if we could store our umbrellas - they said no. The reception area of the restaurant is shared with a bar, which is confusing and creates poor ambience. The wait staff was good but the bus staff seemed completely untrained. They did not offer to clear our plates once, and when we asked them, they seemed confused. They didn’t understand how to set plates for a table of 4 - no exaggeration. The food was not coursed properly. I ordered a glass of wine to enjoy with my meal, which didn’t come until 20 minutes after the food. The food itself was OK, not spectacular, even for simple Italian food. At the end of the meal, we just wanted our check and to leave. I would not return to this restaurant.

    Waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was good as usual. We had to wait awhile for the table to be cleaned off and our dessert to come but other than that, everything was good. We have eaten at Caruso's several times and it is one of our favorites.

    Good solid American Italian food. I went wanting veal parm and left happy. Our server was working hard and up beat, but the kitchen was very slow on a busy Sunday night. Get comfortable….

    Appetizers were excellent. Calamari was crisp and tender, tricolor salad was fresh and well dressed, meatballs were tender and tasty. Entrees were meh. Chicken parm was uninspired, seafood special was good but lacked brightness, eggplant was decent. Nothing exciting.

    Good food. Waiter was friendly and helpful. Disappointed with scarcity of earlier reservations that resulted in my not partaking in their veal special-they ran out!

    Sam gave great service. Fun ambiance. Calamari was really good as were all our dinners. Wine list needs a bit of work; not extensive and pricey. Will certainly go back.

    Excellent dining experience. Aju, our server was friendly, informative and efficient. The food was delicious. Without a doubt, one of the most pleasant meals I can remember having in any restaurant. Great staff, great kitchen.

    We have come here a few times now and our favorite is the chicken Parmesan with vodka sauce and the linguine with white wine clam sauce. This is quickly becoming one of our favorites at Pike and Rose and we love to celebrate special occasions here. Exceptional service and lovely staff.
