Caruso’s Grocery is modeled after the classic, Italian-American "red sauce" joint. You know the one: red banquettes, a killer chicken parmesan, Sinatra pouring through the speakers. If you’re looking for modern interpretations of a chef's take on the classics, you won’t find them here.

A joint venture from Neighborhood Restaurant Group and Partner Matthew Adler.

Caruso’s was such a treat. First our waiter Scott was a delight, very friendly and very helpful! The food was delicious! We started off with the Burrata, Gnocchi alla Genovese and the spicy Neapolitan Ragu for mains and the butterfinger sundae for dessert. All were Devine. The pesto cream sauce on the Gnocchi was superb and light. Overall, it was a great dinner and I look forward to going back. Thanks again Scott!

Very enjoyable evening at Caruso's Grocery. We loved the salad, antipasti, trout, the chicken piccata, linguini with clams. Everything tasted fresh and authentic.

Had to book 2 months in advance for our weekend table of 4. 100% worth the wait. Well-seasoned Garlic bread with the rich 4-cheese sauce. Expertly fried calamari. Perfectly pan fried Trout with crispy sautéed capers. Fettuccine with mushrooms and Fusilli and chicken with the sun-dried tomato cream sauce count among the best pasta our table had ever enjoyed. We spotted this on Open Table’s 50 best in the US, and we now know why. Excellent service. Top marks all-around… except parking is an adventure on a Saturday night.

A meal that hit all the pleasure centers -- fresh, tasty, well prepared, generously portioned and served with that friendly, effortless-seeming attentiveness that makes a good restaurant meal great. The veal parmesan was a nostalgic joy. Ragu was very rich and zesty (if you want it really spicy, say so). The tricolore salad was bright and citrusy with lots of interesting textures and flavors -- delicious and our server split it on two plates for us which is such a considerate touch. We had a great time.

Classic Italian done well. Food was outstanding, service was impeccable, and so kind and welcoming to our kids. Great family night out!

Our favorite Italian spot in DC. Been looking forward to for months and somehow exceeded expectations. Drinks were great, Food was remarkable all the way from appetizers through dessert. Highly recommend the meatballs, Caesar, gnocchi, and penne alla vodka. Cheesecake and cannolis are to die for. Plus, the service is phenomenal. Manager was awesome. She was able to move us from the bar to the main dining area, table was ready on time, and our waitress was spectacular. 10/10 all around.
