COOKING WITH FIRE, SOUTH TEXAS STYLE Carriqui celebrates the South Texas tradition of drawing flavor from fire. Inspired by the flight path of our namesake bird, our menus feature regional favorites from the Rio Grande Valley, Texas coast, and the Hill Country. Nearly every dish is touched by the glowing embers of our custom-forged pits, smoker, or grill, all fueled by native wood. This was our second time coming here and it was amazing! Again! This time we brought our friends with us for a double date. They loved it too. We had the smokehouse platter,cabrito,barbacoa, and the enchiladas. Oh and let's not forget the sweet corn cakes and charro beans with burnt ends. Also, the churros for desert. This place has astounding food and great drinks. Turning into regulars here. Next time I'm going for the Chicken Tortilla soup.

The noise level was absurd.not enough wait staff. Didn’t bring out one of the dishes we ordered. Presentation was totally lacking.

sadly, the service was mediocre. My daughter has an anaphylactic shellfish allergy. We ordered the tuna tostada and expressly told the waiter about the allergy. They bring us our tuna tartare with shellfish why I have no idea considering the plate doesn’t have shellfish very bizarre. While the manager did apologize and removed it from the bill, it was disappointing. The big disappointment came because it was my wife’s 50th birthday and she expressed wanted to come here so we did. I told the hostess two times it was her 50th birthday and the waiter came over half acidly and asked if we want a dessert we said no thank you and then he gave us a check. Very disappointing.

My wife has been wanting to visit the restaurant. We live part time in Mexico sit Carriqui. So we decided to visit the restaurant. the restaurant exceeded our expectations. The nachos with barbecue brisket on top were delicious. The sweet corn cakes were the best we've ever tasted. the brisket tacos were made by a pit master that is an excellent preparer of brisket. And to top it off we had a very good attendant---Zoe.

The host and server were very nice. We asked to be reseated due to a noisy party next to us and the nicely reseated us upstairs. Our dinner was mostly nice until we were almost done and a very large group was seated next to us. No fault to them—I think the way the restaurant is constructed makes it noisy. The food was beautifully presented, fresh and nice portions. The food was not to our taste. Others may love it.

Great restaurant with high quality food. The only things that needs improvement are the tortillas but everything else is exceptional.

Second year in a row that I come here for my birthday. Yes. It’s THAT good! (Not to mention the whole year around). The food here is incredibly delicious!! Had the smoked Barbacoa “Carriqui” Burger (held the jalapeños…cuz I can’t do spicy). The seasoning and savoriness of the meat was really Top Notch!! Not gristly meat and well cooked. Desert: you can’t go wrong with ANYTHING on that menu. This visit we had the 3-leches cake and the flan. The addition of sprinkled pomegranate seeds to the flan gives a hint of tart to the delicious traditional custard. Another good choice are the crispy churros with Mexican chocolate. 🥰
