Very loud, though it eas before a performance at Carnegie Hall. Service was prompt and friendly. You really need a reservation, or you could wait for 20 minutes for a table. I had coconut shrimp. It could have been crunchier—not the best choice at this restaurant . Prosecco not the best, flat and not good quality. Companions had a burger and lentil soup. They said that was better. Good amount of vegetarian and vegan menu options.

The pastrami sandwich was delicious and had a very generous amount of meat! The GF bun was good and provided many options. Definitely worth adding this to your list!

This was a very NYC experience. Ate here morning before the NYC Marathon. It is crowded and noisy but that's what we expected. The food is exceptional and the portions and huge. Since we made a reservation, we went to the front of the line. You should make one too.

A visit to the Carnegie Diner is always great. Although the place is always busy, the host/hostess work quickly to minimize the wait. The menu is expansive and diverse. There are many “classic diner” items but also an entire plant based section. The staff are nice, friendly, and always look like they’re having a good time. We are regulars and will continue to dine there.

We ate here a couple years ago and I definitely wanted to go back. My husband had fettuccine alfredo to carb up for the NYC marathon. He enjoyed his meal, which was very generous and reasonably priced. I missed out on the milkshake last time, so that is all I ordered this time. Honestly, it looks great, but was a bit lacking in what it delivered. I had the Brownie Extravaganza. I was expecting a fudgy brownie, but it was more like a slice of chocolate sheet cake. The outside of the glass is coated in frosting and sprinkles, but it had been done so long ago that it was super hard. I couldn't even scrap it off the glass to get a taste. The shake itself was super thin, more like chocolate milk. Overall, a real disappointment. Service was friendly and attentive. Great location, great vibe, great selection. I would go again, but would not order the shake.

They didn’t even look at our reservation. Just had us wait in line. I’m not sure what the point was to even making a reservation. This place is the epitome of “average.” Gets by on having a great location, so not much emphasis on service, quality, or timeliness.

I reserved a table at Carnegie Diner on Opentable for 9am the next morning, as we arrived there was no queue but when I gave in my name we were told to queue over by the counter whilst we waited for a table, so there was actually no point in making a reservation. A group of 5 and several groups of 2 were seated quicker than us which was annoying. We were finally seated 920am. The tables were literally wiped quickly so the next group could be seated so the tables were quite sticky and the benches were full of crumbs! The food was nice, service ok and atmosphere busy! It was average and I probably wouldn’t be in a rush to return on my next trip to NYC
