We made reservations at 4:30 for a pre-theater dinner and got there 15 minutes early and were seated quickly in a comfortable corner banquet seat. The waiter could not have been nicer. He gave us plenty of time to decide. We ordered one pre-theater hamburger dinner and chose the spinach pie as an appetizer and one greek salad. (I was planning to eat the spinach pie with the greek salad)The pie was a huge portion also with another large salad of mixed greens on the side. The greek salad was HUGE loaded with big chunks of feta olives, cukes, and peppers with a big thick slice of toast on the side. The toast was warm and soft in the middle. I have had this elsewhere and the bread can be cold and hard as a rock so this was really appreciated. My partner was very happy with the hamburger which was substantial and cooked perfectly medium rare on another toasted but soft and warm bun. The fries were outstanding and the spinach pie and greek salad were delicious. My partner and I enjoyed this meal so much. The waiter was smiling and laughing with us. Also, importantly, for pre theater, the food came out very fast. We had let the waiter know we had a show to go to. There is a cozy atmosphere in this diner and you can watch the bustle of the city through the windows as you sit. Restrooms were clean and well stocked. What else can I say.. everything was fantastic! We skipped desserts and probably missed out on something special. Eating out is pricey these days anywhere you go. After tip it came to 60 bucks. We just drank water so that price just covered the food and tip. Compared to other places in the city where we have eaten we felt we got great value for the money and could have had enough take home for meals the next day but heading to Lincoln Center unfortunately we couldn't take it with us. Thank you Carnegie Diner for making a memorable night at the theater even more special.

Great Reuben. Fun experience. Typical noisy diner atmosphere, and we really enjoyed.

Food was adequate if not average. Service was good. Waiter was attentive and friendly. Music was annoyingly loud. I like good music but Barbara Streisand should not be played at those levels.

Very busy but good value and good food the portions are huge so you can probably share our waiter was great and the staff were excellence but book as it’s very busy

Have a weekly reservation here on Sundays. The manager is horribly rude and does not care if you have a reservation. We showed up at 11:25 for our 11:30 reservation for 2 people and were told we had to go to the back of the line and wait more than 45 minutes for a table. If you are 2 minutes late you will be screamed at and if you are early you'll still have to wait another hour after your reservation time, even if they know who you are. What's the point of even making a reservation? Unfortunately we decided we will no longer come due to the horrible treatment of customers, even among the most loyal ones they have.

Definitely make a reservation on the weekend. The food is great. Big portions. Breakfast is the best. Love their hash browns. You gotta go eat here.

This is our favorite pre-show spot for City Center or Carnegie Hall. The menu is big with something for everyone. A tad pricey for what it is, but still delicious. We have also always had great service.

This is a great diner and I make a point to visit any time I’m in the city. Everything on the menu is so delicious. The fries are the best!
