Carnal focuses on the bold flavors of wood fire and caramelization balanced with acidic, raw, and seasonal elements. We are a passionate group of cooks who do not cut corners and hope that is evident when you try our food. Our signature dish is a bone-in beef rib that is sous-vide before grilling over an open wood fire and finished with rendered bone-marrow. We source many of our ingredients from local farms and fisheries.

    It was pretty good. Liked half the things we got. Would pass on the Mushroom and Broccolini, personally. For the price, the veggies should've been cooked perfectly. Broccolini was overcooked, and perhaps there's a better way to treat maiitakes than roasting them and covering them in coconut. Brussels, tuna, & gem salad good. Wouldn't go again.

    We dined outdoors under a cozy heater with our little dog, and the experience was fantastic. The service was exceptional—warm, welcoming, and attentive. We really appreciate restaurants that accommodate well-behaved dogs, and this one did so beautifully. It’s always a big plus when the food matches the great service, and here, it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

    The food here is very good. I had their gem salad, Smoked beef fat fries, and their seared Diver Scallops. The scallops and salad were outstanding. However, the fries, while delicious, had a little too much salt on them. I would order them again, but ask that they only salt the fries lightly.

    The dining room is nice and lively. We got a good table right away. Cocktails sounded interesting but turned out pretty bland. My hamburger was underwhelming;!for $24 it was extremely small (like a diameter of around 1.5 inches) and also wasn’t very interesting, and neither were the fries which seemed like they came out a grocery store bag. My wife did however enjoy her pasta, so that’s good.

    EXCELLENT food! Later dinner on Saturday night so probably waited a bit longer for food - but OMG it was FANTASTIC. Definitely will be back. Worth the $ and wait.

    The restaurant was very dark. So dark that we had to use our cell phone lights to be able to see the menu. You could barely see the food, so it too some of the enjoyment away.

    Outside heated patio and drinks, quick service and great appetizer choices!! We had wings. Salad and mains were hardy and we got our moneys worth, portions were generous. Hamburger was great but she thought the bun could be improved.

    Been to Carnal many times. We had a party of 8 for 2 friends 40th Birthdays. Fairly disappointing. Have never had an experience like this one at Carnal. We’ve been there with parties of 8 before. Drinks took a very long time to arrive at the table. 45 mins to a hour. Food took a long time as well. We saw our server 3 times total in 2.5 hours. The food was ok but not great. We opted not to stay for dessert or even a second drink. and instead took the cake we brought with us to another location. We might try again at some point but there are other restaurants in Bellingham we enjoy. Bummed that the experience wasn’t a good one.
