Carmel transports the energy, culture, and flavor of the renowned outdoor marketplace “Shuk HaCarmel” to Melrose Avenue, in the heart of LA’s food scene.

Using some of the oldest techniques in the world— a wood-burning oven, an open flame grill— chef Asaf Maoz interprets ancient Levantine cooking traditions through a modern lens.

Dishes showcase the best of the season: farmer’s market produce, sustainably-sourced meats and seafood, all prepared with the global culinary influence of the Tel Aviv shuk. Breads are baked in-house, including a 72-hour fermented Moroccan Frena, baked to order in the wood-fire oven.

Fantastic and absolutely delicious dinner! Everything we had was unique, super tasty and served by a friendly staff! A very welcome addition to the neighborhood, highly recommended.

Food is delicious, original, and interesting flavors; but restaurant so noisy - very difficult to have conversation. Also busboys, waiters kept coming by every few minutes halfway through meal to take plates away when we hadn't finished eating.

Unbelievable we had the best time! Chef Asi’s food is always delicious and the service was so warm and lovely.

Unfortunately there was no AC when we dined here, or if it was on, we could barely feel anything. We had a baby with us as well which isn’t the best for overheated environments. I don’t foresee going back unless that’s fixed. It was overpriced for the dining experience.

We set for a BD dinner with the family, The AC didn’t work for some reason, it was impossible to eat and enjoy, although the team tried their best, the experience of dining in 90 degrees was not the experience we expected.
