At Caribou the surroundings are comfortable and the focus is contemporary cuisine of exceptional quality. Signature dishes created by our Chef include certified Angus tenderloin, cedar plank salmon, black and blue ahi tuna and wood oven pizzas. Our desserts are prepared in-house by our pastry chef. We feature an extensive wine list with numerous vintage wines as well as over 30 wines by the glass.
Caribou Restaurant + Wine Bar opened in November of 1999. The menu has been developed over many years of visiting restaurants all over North America and the world. Options represent Italian, Asian, Cuban or any other styles of new and exciting cuisine.
Caribou has been listed in "Where to Eat in Canada" for several years running and the wine list has earned the "Wine Spectator Award of Excellence" every year since 2002.

    Very nice experience, food is really good, but it gets very noisy as there are a lot of tables for the size of the room and it is hard to have any conversation, with your friends/family at the tables. The service staff was very friendly and attentive too.

    We had heard good things about this restaurant, so when we arrived in Thunder Bay, we quickly made a reservation. We really enjoyed our evening here and are glad to have gone. The hostess was very friendly and seated us quickly. The server, whose name was Don, was super friendly as well. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, ingredients etc and was helpful with us making our beverage and food selections. They have quite a few gluten free options too which was fantastic! We had the misto fritti appetizer (gluten free) and it was tasty. Our table tried the steak frites, porcini fillet and mafaldine pasta. Everything was excellent! We would definitely recommend this restaurant, and if we visit Thunder Bay again, we would go back!

    The meal was awesome. Didn’t make you feel rushed. Maddison was excellent, polite and very courteous. I definitely be going back.

    Food was mediocre for the price . Frozen shoe string fries . A puddle of creamed spinach?? and a properly cooked decent cut steak . However steak was very small . Overall not good value for the price. Also very noisey. Service was petty good .

    I am disappointed to read you did not enjoy your meal. The steak is indicated on the menu as an 8oz certified angus beef flat iron steak, served with roasted shallot steak sauce, creamed gouda spinach and frites. It is a very popular dish on our menu and value oriented compared to some more expensive cuts featured on our menu and on special. We did have a 16oz ribeye on special as a larger option. The restaurant can be energetic when busy, and the weekend you dined with us, was the university graduation weekend with some larger groups out to celebrate. If you wish for a quieter dining experience, I would suggest coming in early when we first open. Cheers.
