Traditional meets modern in this new age Caribbean cuisine restaurant brought you by Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph of E&R Hospitality Group.

Named after the Canje pheasant, national bird of Guyana, Canje pulls inspiration not just from mainland Guyana, but from Jamaica to Puerto Rico, and all the islands in between. Our menu explores the cooking techniques, ingredients, and many expressions of vibrant food across the region.

Tucked away on the east side of Austin, this lively environment brings a unique cocktail program boasting both spirit forward and fruit driven cocktails and a small selection of natural wines alongside our inventive food menu.

First time enjoying Canje with friends. Great service with real passion for the process, origin, and cuisine influences. We had a variety of dishes, but the Ceviche was a standout in terms of balance of flavors, texture, and presentation. The Roti and curry was a nice combination as well. Drinks were well made, and the interpretation of Rice Krispy with ice cream desert was fun and surprising. Will definitely be heading back soon!

Always amazing. Some new items on the menu, but we have a hard enough time choosing between the standard items we love. Best ceviche in Texas… maybe America? Meat patties. Wild boar. Wagyu curry. Roti, of course. Just always so good. Cocktails list is constantly evolving and improving as well. LOVE Canje.

We visited Canje on our business visit to Austin. We loved the combination of Caribbean flavors with influences from across the world. The staff was welcoming and friendly, and the ambiance was happy and energetic. While a vegetarian, I tried the okra accompanying my co-worker's Escovitch fish. It was flavorful without being overcooked. I ordered the sweet potato suppa: a great mix of crunchy coconut choka, passion fruit sourness, fresh herbs, and the sweetness of the sweet potato with delicate, crispy skin. My other co-worker ordered slow-cooked pork, tender inside, and crispy outside. You should also try the Guyanese-style roti, the Trinidadian pepper rice, or the cucumber mango chow. The food was filling, so we didn't get the chance to try the desserts. It's an excellent excuse to go back. Thanks to the staff for a great first visit to Austin.

Great food, service and environment. Went to celebrate a birthday and we all walked away feeling this was a memorable event.

Our dinning experience at Canje was enjoyable. The reinterpretation of classic Caribbean/Guyanese dishes were innovative yet true to capturing the unique flavors of Caribbean cooking. Thank you for show-casing a cuisine that represents another aspect and/or perspective of the Black experience and history.
