We went to Canela on Saturday evening with a party of 8 and it was absolutely amazing. The service was exceptional! Our server was kind and patient as we navigated allergies and food restrictions. The food was delicious and the space was very comfortable. Highly recommend it!

We started with Patatas Bravas adding Manchego and fresh garlic. They were both crispy yet tender and the portion was very generous, needless to say we polished them off. We had the fried chicken pinchos which was good but lamb pinchos was cooked to perfection. We considered getting a side because at first appearance the mains didn’t seem like it would be “enough” (not much in the way of “sides” but it was actually plenty. We finished off with the chocolate olive oil cake and chocolate ice cream which were both very tasty. The only thing I would change is our mains were brought out very far apart. The fired chicken was brought out much earlier than the lamb. I was finished before the other party even started their meal. Our server was wonderful, pleasant, attentive but not overly, and the price is right. Will definitely return.

We came to Canela for a family birthday dinner and we had a fantastic time! We ended up being 15 minutes late and the hostess (who was also our server) was so kind about it. We had some dietary restrictions in our party (gf, vegetarian) and our server was great about letting us know what size dish she recommended for how many people would partake and reminding us which dishes people could eat when they came to the table. We ended ordering maybe 12 to 15 items and everything came out swiftly but well paced. And the food was amazing! We especially loved the fried chicken, the mushrooms, the cheese plate and the garlic shrimp. There was no dish that wasn’t enjoyable and the drinks were delicious too! Very inventive cocktails and a delightful wine list. As it was a birthday meal, they brought out a dessert with a candle and little happy birthday chocolate medallion. All three desserts we got were absolutely delicious, and the olive oil cake despite being gluten free was so moist and fudgy and delicious. My family can be a little overwhelming and the waitstaff was so accommodating and kind. The vibe is very warm and inviting and comfortable and not too noisy for my hard of hearing parents. Overall the whole experience was immensely enjoyable and I’d definitely recommend Canela to anyone and everyone!!

The service in particular was very attentive and the staff very cheerful. The octopus, wild mushrooms be the lamb flatbread were definitely the stars!

Canela was an unknown restaurant, but we love tapas and the menu looked good. Good wine and delicious pan con tomaca, well seasoned tomatoes with garlic on thinly sliced toasted bread. We shared a Spanish caesar, well dressed with beets that were nice but didn’t add enough to the salad. The gambas pimenton were savory with a tasty sauce that was well balanced. The patatas bravas seasoned well and topped with both aioli and bravas sauce, not over powering, just delicious. We ended our meal with churros con chocolate that were light, fluffy and scrumptious! We would go back on a return visit to SF.
