Can Can is a French brasserie and bakery in Cary Court Shopping Center. With seating for over 140 in the main dining room, an Art Nouveau inspired private dining room that seats up to 60 guests or over 100 for cocktails, and a full-service bakery and pastry kitchen supplying all of its breads, pastries, and desserts, the restaurant’s versatility should provide the area an array of options and events.

Can Can provides nonstop service morning, noon, and night and looks to give the local neighborhood, businesses, and Richmond visitors, a home away from home, an office away from the office, a place of refuge, or a stage for celebrating with friends.

After many stellar dining experiences at Can Can over the years, we were shocked to have a dismal experience at brunch today. It was a triple negative with an extremely long wait for our food, an inattentive server, and subpar food. The shrimp and oysters were especially disappointing - watery and tasteless. We hope this was a blip and not a sign of the way things are going to be.

We just moved to the Richmond area and my daughter wanted to celebrate her birthday at Can Can. The staff was very nice, friendly, and responsive to our needs. It seemed like they were short staffed but still very pleasant. We ordered brunch: Croque Madame, Croque Monsier, Steak sandwich, bread, beignets, drinks. The drinks, bread, and beignets came immediately. They were out of the steak sandwich which was replaced with pancakes. All was good. The atmosphere is electric and a very good Parisian copy, although Americans are 10x louder than the French. The noise level is very high. Location is great. Place is packed. I think this is a great family/event spot for brunch but you must have a reservation. The brunch menu is fine, not stellar. The restaurant and bathrooms are very clean. Overall, 4.5 Can’t wait to go back for the Boeuf bourguignon.

Our server made it obvious disdain for having a boomer sit in his section - he swooned over the Gen 'Z's' tolerated the Millennial's, and tried his best to ignore us. The food was so so, and $62 a bottle for Beaujolais seemed a bit over the top, but oh well - will not be returning

Great food, well prepared, a little loud but not as loud as some places I have been. Overall a great experience will return for sure!

Big yummy croque madame and Monsieur and a lot might be absent from the menu if you arrive. Also they’re obsessed with telling you the kitchen might close.

Super nice server, a long wait for food. Not a restaurant for quick snappy service, if you not in a hurry and don't waiting for over 30 minutes. Basic menu with French sounding names, pricey for the food produced. Presentation was OK, it lacked any flair. Not much attention to detail, no teaspoon to stir the coffee and a huge serving spoon for a dessert. Ambiance, decor and cleanness were very much on point which negated the other short comings. The bar area looked lively and could be fun as long as you weren't ordering food.

Horrible experience with the hostess. From the moment we arrived she started telling us all the things that were wrong. We were 10 minutes late for our reservation (we were waiting in line to check in after a long line for 5 of those minutes), they couldn’t accommodate a high chair, and told us we had to be out by 7 for another reservation and to basically make it snappy. We chose an available reservation time so it wasn’t as if they were squeezing us in unreasonably. Our waitress was very sweet but for a place that is counting the minutes of your arrival/exit time, the wait between ordering and receiving food and drinks was long.

Very disappointed. We are regular customers and tend to eat the same things. Today they changed the menu and now you don’t get a side when ordering a sandwich. And the price is the same. Adding the side as extra is equivalent to a 60% increase. Also the croque madame was not as good or generous as before.

Raw bar is consistently closed on Friday nights with no warning to reservations. Our friend’s drink had something floating in it. No appetizer plates were given for a party of 4, after about 3-5 minutes of waiting we all ate off the serving platters. Sides to entrees (salad and fries) were served about 20 minutes after receiving our entrees. Our server was extremely busy and very nice. I’ve been going here for about 15 years and the last 3 times I have been have been different from my normal positive experiences. Food is always good.
