A neighbourhood restaurant on Stoney Street, Borough Market - Camille is a reflection of imagined jaunts through regional France.

The menu from head chef Elliot Hashtroudi celebrates the magic of local and seasonal produce - his simple approach to cooking captures the rustic energy of a regional French table.

An intimate casual bistro-style dining space with small bar and window counter seating is the back drop to our a-la-carte menu and ‘daily specials’ board.

Like in our other restaurants Ducksoup, Little Duck and Emilia you’ll find a weekly changing menu of wines by the glass and bottle from small independent producers.

I loved the menu - typical nose to tail eating. Excellently presented and good wine selection too. Will come again but with less fussy eaters next time!

Menu is a mix of small plates and larger plates, emphasis on sharing. We recommend the duck hearts with caramelised shallots and the skate schnitzel with lovage, the richness of the offal is nicely offset by the freshness of the fish. The potato pavé was excellent. The bay leaf set cream with plums and honeycomb was matched only by the peach tart. An extensive wine list with some soft options but better to choose one of the aperitifs, which are well mixed. Service was friendly but discreet.

Interesting, maybe even challenging, menu. Good food and staff but expensive - a crab stater was £20 and a bottle of house wine in an un-labelled refillable bottle was £42, but this is Borough Market!

Delightful regularly changing menu with specials, particularly strong on charcuterie, fish and offal. Their version of Cafe de Paris butter is a masterpiece, far surpassing the ‘secret sauce’ at L’Entrecote. Charming service. A very special restaurant.

A few weeks ago I posted an outstanding review of this charming restaurant. I said it was the best meal out I had eaten for years and the food was sublime. Fast forward to yesterday - there was virtually nothing on the menu that wasn’t offal (neither I nor my friend eat offal) so it was difficult to find any dishes. However we persevered - the sausage and aioli was ok but very garlicky. The breaded (“schnitzel”) skate (again with some sort of lovage mayonnaise) was very dry - why was the skate fillet not just grilled or fried; the breadcrumbs were totally superfluous. Anyway we didn’t enjoy that at all. The best course was the shallot tatin served with a sort of beef tomato salad. The accompaniments to the dishes were random to say the least. A lot of very dry stuff with not a vegetable in sight. We were disappointed as the meal bore absolutely no resemblance to the gorgeous meal we had had a few weeks previously. Please bring back the grilled Dover sole and the burnt milk tart No criticism of the service but the food was awful

Camille serves really excellent food, and service was great. However I have to agree with some of the other reviews which say it is massively overpriced. While the food is really well prepared, and interesting, it does not justify the price point. The ambiance itself is OK, but lacking decor, and unfortunately we were between the bathroom and a really noisy table.
