Located in downtown Columbia, SC, inside the historic 1902 Union Station, California Dreaming welcomes guests with its vibrant and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows offer a picturesque view of the rail tracks, stretching from the inactive platform to the main terminal. Paired with our hearty, made-from-scratch menu, it's no wonder California Dreaming has been a beloved local institution since 1984. Open for lunch and dinner daily, including online ordering with curbside pickup.

Celebrating 40 years, California Dreaming has been a valued part of the Columbia community. Union Station, its historic home, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

**We provide Advance Priority Seating to reduce wait times and expedite the seating process when your entire party arrives. To ensure the best experience for all guests, we seat groups of up to 8. While larger groups are seated separately, this arrangement is flexible during quieter hours.

She crab soup wasn't as good as it used to be. California Dreamn salad was excellent.

The food was absolutely delicious. We were so pleased. We enjoyed our waitress and felt her service was above and beyond.

My granddaughter and I had the absolute best waitresses ( 1 was in training). They were very welcoming, kind and attentive. Suffice it to state that they both made our shared and cherished time together very special. I so hope to have either of them be my waitress when I return.

I had reservations at 6:30pm arrived early and didn’t get seated until til 7:25pm. My father ordered a steak and shrimp dinner the steak was burnt and the size of a silver dollar. The drinks were good the soup needed salt. It was Father’s Day and my parents had never been and will never go again!

Even though we had reservations we still had to wait 45 minutes. What was the point in planning if you still have to wait that long? I understand 15 minutes but 45 minutes. Just too long. The food was good and the wait staff he was great. So we will be back.

I would never go here again for a special occasion. We arrived early for our reservation and was not told that we would still have to wait until the time of our reservation to be sat. I think additional training is needed for the host staff. I'm sure giving out estimated wait times is difficult, however, it needs to be stated that if you come early for your reservation that you will not be considered for seating until the time of the reservation. Even at the time of the reservation there was still a 45-minute wait for the table. I would only recommend coming to California Dreaming on a random weekday where no special events are happening and anticipate waiting at least 45 minutes after the reservation time. The server was amazing, and the rest of the staff was great.

We had a 6:00 pm reservation and were not seated until 7:00 pm. Other patrons said they had reservations and still waited an hour as well. The salad and croissants were amazing as always. I ordered the fried shrimp and steak combo. The fried shrimp and cocktail sauce were delicious. The steak was just ok. We all wanted loaded baked potatoes but were told they were out of potatoes. We got fries instead and they were hot and crispy. Our server was amazing. He helped make up for the 1 hour wait.
