Located in downtown Columbia, SC, inside the historic 1902 Union Station, California Dreaming welcomes guests with its vibrant and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows offer a picturesque view of the rail tracks, stretching from the inactive platform to the main terminal. Paired with our hearty, made-from-scratch menu, it's no wonder California Dreaming has been a beloved local institution since 1984. Open for lunch and dinner daily, including online ordering with curbside pickup.

Celebrating 40 years, California Dreaming has been a valued part of the Columbia community. Union Station, its historic home, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

**We provide Advance Priority Seating to reduce wait times and expedite the seating process when your entire party arrives. To ensure the best experience for all guests, we seat groups of up to 8. While larger groups are seated separately, this arrangement is flexible during quieter hours.

We come here often and the food and service is consistently good. Portions are large. We love the old train station building, but is very loud and not conducive to conversation.

Busy Friday night. Football weekend. Front desk team seemed a bit overwhelmed with the number of parties waiting and more streaming in the doors. Server was friendly. Food was okay at best. I had 1 rack of ribs (menu has an option for 2); there was barely any meat on the bones and they were overcooked/dry. Husband had a dinner salad and only took a couple of mouthfuls b/c he couldn’t decide if it tasted right or not. Kids both had steak and they didn’t comment.

Our waitress Nya was wonderful. We had a great family visit and meal and she was purposeful and attentive.

First there is not enough parking. Host and wait staff were great. The food, however, was not so great. I had the fried crab claws, and they tasted almost burnt. They did not even look appealing. We had a Californian salad that was totally messed up. The chicken tenders "looked" as if they had been tossed in the fire, but the flavor was not too terrible. The best part of the meal were the honey croissants. I've eaten here multiple times in the past and it has always been great. Not sure what happened
