Located in downtown Columbia, SC, inside the historic 1902 Union Station, California Dreaming welcomes guests with its vibrant and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows offer a picturesque view of the rail tracks, stretching from the inactive platform to the main terminal. Paired with our hearty, made-from-scratch menu, it's no wonder California Dreaming has been a beloved local institution since 1984. Open for lunch and dinner daily, including online ordering with curbside pickup.

Celebrating 40 years, California Dreaming has been a valued part of the Columbia community. Union Station, its historic home, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

**We provide Advance Priority Seating to reduce wait times and expedite the seating process when your entire party arrives. To ensure the best experience for all guests, we seat groups of up to 8. While larger groups are seated separately, this arrangement is flexible during quieter hours.

Tried to give this restaurant a chance. Food is just not good anymore. The ambiance of this place is gone. Not returning.

Our server was very attentive and our food was out within 15 min of sitting down. Amazing experience as always

We throughly enjoyed our dining experience. The food was excellent. We were seated within 15 minutes of our reservation.

Service was slow….took awhile before a server came to our table….15 minutes before we got our wine ***after we reminded them we hadn’t received it…and then took our food our order. Food was ok. Better experience when we ate there last summer. ***Plus : the restaurant wasn’t overly busy…lots of empty tables. Perhaps lack of staff???

We were seated immediately which was nice. Waitress was amazing. Food was good but the fact we could not sub out a salad on a 25$ entree item for a few extra fries was ridiculous instead I was up charged almost 5$ for a few extra fries. Restaurant was pretty loud volume wise and floors etc could have been a little cleaner. Overall a decent eating experience.

The restaurant refused to push two tables together to accommodate our group, and insisted we squeeze into a small table in order to be seated together. The only other option was to separate into two tables. This was unacceptable for our business lunch and makes no sense. Our server was lovely and rating in no way reflects their work.

Open table reservation was good. We still had to wait but not long. The grilled chicken wasn’t like usually. The salad with the chicken . It was in big chunks and not but only four pieces.. Not a breast like normal and the flavor was different. I get this every week so not sure if it was a different cook..
