This is a local restaurant in Mineola that never fails to impress with its very high quality food, pleasant, attentive service and reasonable prices, coupled with a good wine list and great bartender. Hot dishes are always served hot as they are quickly moved to diners from the kitchen. The wineglasses are of high quality and sparkle. Cannot write enough good things about Cala Luna.

I pass this restaurant all the time, sorry I didn’t try it sooner. Excellent service, the staff stuck around, as we were the last people to leave. The food was absolutely delicious. The grilled octopus should be part of the menu as an appetizer and not just a special! Nice wine list, and fairly priced for such great food! I will be back soon!

The food was good but nothing - except the Pappardelle entree special - was over the top. I had higher expectations based on the 4.6 star review I read. I think we were tainted by the fact that our waiter - while very sweet & knowledgeable - hovered over our table like a vulture from the minute we sat down! It was really like a sitcom episode! He asked for our drink order twice before our friends arrived, which was only minutes after we sat, DESPITE me telling him we were waiting for them to order. The second they sat down, he was back asking for drinks & apps. They didn't even open their menus! We sent him away & he was back in 2 minutes. Geez, give people a second to say hello, chat & then look at the menu. We told him sorry, we didn't even look yet so he stood & waited until we did. Umm, ok... Listen, I understand when a place is crowded but when we arrived at 6:30, there was only ONE other table occupied and still 4 that were never occupied when we left one hour later. Most people want to sit & relax over dinner on a Saturday night, but we felt so pressured that it was not an enjoyable experience at all. We go out to eat often in NYC & all over LI (mostly Nassau) and I have never felt so rushed, it was awkward! We were seated at 6:30 & in our cars heading home by 7:40! And while the prices were pretty good -- 4 people shared 3 apps, 4 entrees but NO drinks, coffee or dessert - we still spent $300 (with tip) so you'd think we can sit & take our time. By the time they cleared our dinner plates, we were just annoyed & so we paid and went for coffee & dessert elsewhere. There is a difference between attentive and rushed service.

I really enjoyed their watermelon strawberry feta salad which was refreshing & light. Their branzino is always good as well as my husband’s favorite Berkshire pork chop. You can always count on a good meal here plus a very tasty cosmopolitan!
