We're proud of our history without being complacent and we love to see a happy customer. We've always focused on making our pub unique and we are sure you will notice. So pull up a seat, take a tour round our pub and discover what sets us apart from the rest.

** Please note all bookings are for our restaurant, we offer first come first served for drinks in our bar area.

*** Please note due to licencing restrictions under 18's are not permitted in the main bar, we can seat under 18's and over 5's in the restaurant for dining. We cannot allow under 18's in the restaurant after 10pm.

**** As we are a listed building we do not have Accessible toilets on the ground floor.

Excellent food, the haggis bon bons were delicious although both of our mains were also delicious, we were too full for dessert. Our waiter was very attentive, polite and easy to talk to. It's a lovely quirky place with a great ambience. We will definitely be back when next visiting Edinburgh.

Was really busy and could probably have some more waiters or waitresses however the steaks we had were outstanding

Off the beaten path but a place with history. Expect noisy bar atmosphere. The only thing we missed was live music.

For wonderful old world atmosphere you can't beat this lovely restaurant with its wood panelling and stained glass and the menu has beautifully served classics. I had the halibut and my friend the hot seafood platter. All in all it was such a treat. Only slight disappointment was the delay in asking if we wanted a pre lunch drink. But that apart all was perfect.

Cafe Royal it’s a hidden gem. Wonderful place with great atmosphere and a beautiful interior designs. Food was cooked to perfection . Pleased with our choice.

Classic Scottish pub! A must on any visit to Edinburgh. Food is excellent. Ample portions! Enough to share

Food too salty,both dishes we had were overseasoned. Assistance with coeliac requirements was non existent and outlined lack of staff awareness for allergies etc Inattentive,bored staff. Had to collect water jug myself after not being attended to almost 20 minutes after arrival. Definitely won't be back.
