** Please note all bookings are for our restaurant, we offer first come first served for drinks in our bar area.

*** Please note due to licencing restrictions under 18's are not permitted in the main bar, we can seat under 18's and over 5's in the restaurant for dining. We cannot allow under 18's in the restaurant after 10pm.

**** As we are a listed building we do not have Accessible toilets on the ground floor.

Food was great but the service was terrible. We booked for 7:45 but had to wait until nearly 8pm to get our table as it wasn’t ready. It also took 30 mins for our desert to arrive and the payment took another 25 mins to be made. The food was tasty but I wouldn’t go back as the service was subpar for the price that you pay

The restaurant part of this establishment is reached through a very lively (and noisy) pub. Good ambience Leona traditional standpoint. Menu was the stand fare. Fish and chips came with one large piece of well breaded cod(/not cut up not smaller pieces. Haggis, neeps and tatties were standard Scottish fare and very tasty.

Been eating here for years (and my parents/grandparents before me) and food has always been great. But this time it felt like mediocre pub grub. So disappointed because I have always loved coming here. Service was pretty mediocre too. I expect better from Cafe Royal and know it can do better. Not a great start to a birthday weekend.

I had a lovely time at Cafe Royal and the food was great. The only aspect that I was disappointed with, was that a service charge was automatically added to the bill and this charge was at a rate of 12.5%. I paid the bill inclusive of the charge, but I would have felt happier had I been presented with the bill as detailed in the menu and left a discretionary tip.

The menu was a bit limited for a non-red meat eater, but the shrimp curry dish was very tasty. The French ambience was nice

Some lovely bits but sadly both mains badly overcooked and the only response was - ‘I will let them know’ not really sufficient when the two dishes cost over £100 collectively
