Our Wokingham restaurant is situated in the historic New Rose Public House in Market Place, opposite the town council offices. It's full of character with listed fireplaces, original low ceiling beams and wall panelling throughout. For al fresco dining we also have an attractive patio garden at the rear.

Please note that the car park behind the restaurant is owned by a private parking company and does not belong to us. It's a 'cashless payment' car park, which means that in order to use it you will need to register and pay by phone.

    The food was not as good as I would have hoped for . The crab starter was bland and would have benefited from the inclusion of some brown crab meet. The bouillabaisse was not as good as we have had at Café Rouge. The contents were Ok but the flavour was lacking. The final course was fine . It is a shame that no typically English beer is stocked as many are available bottled (i.e. Tanglefoot from badgers, Abbot from green King and London Pride from Fullers.and have an extended shelf life). The service was very good and the staff helpful. I have a personal dislike of paper serviettes.

    Cafe Rouge appears to have improved lately. Have been three times in quick succession and enjoyed it every time.

    We had a lovely evening celebrating my 50th birthday although we were very surprised to be the only table in the restaurant at 8pm on a Saturday night! there were a few people sitting outside for some of the evening.

    Appalling service - slow, coffees thrown over the tray, forgotten meals.... Nir enough staff in for a busy Father's Day brunch. Had to ask to have a deduction on the bill even though they knew we had received appalling service. Manager tried to make things better but too little, too late. Won't be back as second time service has not been great there.

    We thought it was expensive for average food. Chicken and chips £13 was expensive.

    Took advantage of a special offer. Three friends and I had lunch, we all chose different meals from the a la carte menu and were all very pleased with our food.

    The Mrs and I met in France and this reminds us some of the places we used to go there. I like the people that work in the place as well.

    Awful visit !!! Over an hour to be served very mediocre food . Apparently staff were very tired having worked long hours !!!! poor waitress tried her best . Really would not try again or recommend .

    It was particularly busy when we visited in the evening but that might be because the majority of people had 50% off vouchers. With this in mind they should staff accordingly as there were only 4 staff in a huge practically full restaurant. The staff that were there were great as we asked to move tables due to hygiene of another customer. My only grumble is the 50 minute wait for our 5oz minute rump steak frites!!
