Our only complaint would be how cold it was in the cafe. I know the pool must be under some maintenance, but it will be so lovely to see it again when we dine next time. The food was excellent, and the service was very good.

After years of eating there I have decided yesterday was the last time. There were four of us and I was the only one to finish my meal but only because I was very hungry. Things were either over-cooked or undercooked and basically bland. The waitress was nowhere to be found to request salt and pepper. She never asked if we needed anything, if everything was satisfactory, no refill of water or asking if we would like another cocktail or dessert. The is the second time in a month that I and my friends have felt this way. One friend remarked that all the waitstaff looked miserable. We will just eat at the Kimbell which is always good.

We always enjoy Cafe Modern. Missed having reflecting pool but look forward to completion of renovation

Absolutely perfectly delicious! Do not be disappointed by the fact that the pond is drained and in the middle of major refurbishing. I was first shocked as I wanted to share the beauty with someone who had never been there. However, it did not ruin our great meal. They will hopefully be back to perfect in November. A unique pimento cheese sandwich on Hippie Bread was outstanding and HUGE! Chef even gifted us with a wonderful salad he was training a newbie to make. Wow! I love this place!!!

We were seated promptly. But what’s going on with the reflection pool?? Very disappointing view :( Our server was attentive, answered our questions, and made good suggestions. Salads and entrees were tasty and presented attractively. We were celebrating a birthday and looking forward to dessert. We did not like the Pavlova at all! My mother made these often, topped with fruit and whipped cream. Hers were light as air and lightly toasted. These were starkly white and hard as a rock! I had to pound it with my spoon to break it into bites. Sorry we ordered 2:(

Quality of food has gone down. We have eaten here at least a dozen times, and we've always enjoyed the food. This time was different. The appetizer cornbread and the cocktails were great, however our entrees were not good. The hamburger tasted like it came from a fastfood restaurant and the mojo chicken had NO mojo just some tasteless carrot puree. Maybe it was an OFF day for the kitchen.

Service and food was magnificent. I wear hearing aids and the noise level was horrible. If I turned them down, I couldn't hear, and up was way too loud. My wife told me what she and our granddaughter talked about when we got home.
