Welcome to Cafe la Vie located inside the Le Meridien Hotel in Clayton!

Indulge yourself in the wonderous French European style cuisine created by our amazing team of culinary artists or a signature cocktail poured by our talented bartenders. Our spacious 7,400 sq. foot restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, Sparkling Hour (our version of happy hour) and dinner in the heart of downtown Clayton.

Cafe la Vie offers dishes highlighting European classics with local St. Louis flavors in a warm and inviting environment.

This restaurant is in the Le Meridien Hotel in Clayton. I mistakenly thought that it was a free-standing French-style cafe. We were told that the restaurant's fryer was broken, which didn't bother me, but it meant that some items weren't available. The lunch menu is quite limited. I had a Croque Monsieur, which is basically a hot ham and cheese sandwich, but the waiter didn't seem to be able to identify it until I pointed at the menu. My sandwich was a little cold by the time I received it and was unexceptional. It came with a bowl of chips. My partner had a burger, which she thought was quite good. The restaurant seemed short on staff for lunch that day, although we were about the only patrons. Our service was not very attentive. I would not return to this restaurant.

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Cafe la Vie and it was wonderful. Corinthian was absolutely amazing. Everything she recommended was great and she made our evening very special!

we went for our anniversary, had excellent service, and food was wonderful. I had the risotto and asked to add salmon to it, and my spouse had the steak and frites. Loved the decor.

The food is always outstanding at Cafe La Vie but what makes the experience outstanding is the people. Our server, Angela Holbrooke, was knowledgeable, friendly, service-oriented and entertaining. She made us feel like we were her only guests and made our meal a treat!

Server was very attentive and not overly intrusive. Food was delivered timely and all had delicious meals. Ambiance was clean, modern, and quiet.

We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to try something new. It was very disappointing. The food was only fair. The drinks were good but overpriced and the service was very slow. Our server greeted us quickly but it seemed to fall apart after the initial greeting. She seemed to be the only server so perhaps they were understaffed. I also mentioned in the reservation that it was our anniversary but that wasn’t acknowledged. We won’t be returning.
