Cafe Cortina, located on the former site of an apple orchard in Farmington Hills, Michigan, has been in existence since 1976 and earned a following among food lovers for its authentic Italian atmosphere and cuisine.

Fresh pastas, gnocchi, ravioli and lasagnas are made from scratch in house daily, and many ingredients are sourced from their on premise garden located behind the restaurant. Meals likely to catch your attention include the vitello paillard, which includes bone-in veal and the tower of layered spinach lasagna.

Fireside seating is available in the main dining room as well as on the outdoor patio. Perfect for dates, special occasions, or just a casual meal with friends and family.

Overall experience was great. Food was very good. Ambiance was very nice but a little loud if you’re looking for a quiet dinner. Only minor con, our dining time began at 6:15 and we left at 9:45ish. Timing between entrees was longer than expected.

We have eaten at Cafe Cortina quite a few times over the course of many years. We continue to come back because the food has always been delicious, it has a wonderful ambiance and typically excellent service. However this one experience was disappointing. We made a reservation via Open Table noting that the reservation was to celebrate a birthday. We arrived about 5 minutes early for a 6:30pm slot and waited about 15 minutes ( the restaurant was half full at that time). We were escorted to a great table; romantic, by the fireplace. Then we waited. Finally a lovely woman took our drink order and when the drinks finally arrived, they were great. Btw, if you like a spicy margarita, this is the place. However we waited over 20 minutes for our server to arrive at which time we requested the bread be brought over, but he never brought us our bread so we asked again and finally the woman that took our drink order brought us some rolls. We waited much too long to have our order taken, and again to even get a Cesar salad which combined, was smaller than one shared plate. We were enjoying each other’s company so we weren’t in a hurry for our main meal but it did take a long time again. The entire evening we watched all the other tables around us get great service, engaging with their patrons, quick to continuously check on them and even people that came later than us got served before us. When it came time for dessert, it again took a while and there was no mention of a birthday. This waiter truly lost out as we are generous tippers. We’ll try it one more time hoping that this was just a bad night.

This is a stupendous restaurant. They went out of their way to make our celebration of mother's 96th birthday dinner a success. Moved us to a quieter table so everybody could hear. Great food and service. Just can't say enough about this wonderful establishment.

We have been to Cafe Cortina many times. The dinner , service and overall experience were wonderful . I recommend this family owned restaurant for an enjoyable evening.

This is always the perfect place for any occasion or no occasion at all. The food is perfect, courses are timed to allow you to enjoy each one and the service is fantastic. There is always someone to fill your drinks, clear plates, and tell you specials/take your order. Everyone has a role and it helps things run so smoothly! We were there for our anniversary and were made to feel so special and had a beautiful table that felt so intimate, even with people dining around us. We will be back and cannot say enough good things about Cafe Cortina!

I love Cafe Cortina. The food is always phenomenal. The ambience is fantastic. And typically, the service is exceptional. I'm assuming they are also having struggles with being short staffed as there was a minimal number of servers this time and service took a bit longer than it should have. We were not in a rush so I'm not complaining; I don't mind a longer leisurely dinner. But for those expecting to get in and out quickly, you might want to be forewarned. Even with a limited number of staff, the service and food were still great. Highly recommend Cafe Cortina.

Pasta was over priced. Bolognese tasted like chicken broth. We are world travelers and Italian and know good sauce. The octopus was amazing!! Dessert was lovely!
