Join us on the Halifax Waterfront in our relaxing dining room or waterside patio decks. Panoramic views of the Halifax Harbor, George's Island and an abundance of local sail boating enthusiasts passing by. It is simply breathtaking, Nova Scotia at its best.
We offer a large selection of fresh local seafood including lobster, halibut, haddock and mussels infused in our pasta dishes. We source only Canada's top prime and choice steak cuts which are from Alberta Beef Farmers with a reputation of the World second best beef provider. Now Pizza Pizza Pizza ! We use only 00 flour sourced from Italy, which offers our guests the cleanest flour available. Delivering a light thin crust with bursts of flavour made in house daily. Our wine list pairs well with our cuisine, representing the best vineyards in Italy, California and our local wine offerings suggested by our staff sommelier.                                                                                               Not the same as previous visits. Something has changed. We loved it on previous visits... Super salty . Gnocchi was mushy.. calamari was off and scallops overcooked. Service and ambiance was great , as we remembered. Maybe just a bad night in the kitchen?

                                                                                              All in all, it was a disappointing experience . Cafe Chianti was always a dining experience with a varied menu with choices such as lamb , duck ,pate , I e , a real European experience. The menu now features mostly pastas and the dish I ordered was pitiful. Also, the ambiance is gone, this new setting was like a railway depot, totally lacking the charm of the previous settings. The fact that we were there on a Saturday evening with only a few scattered customers spoke volumes. In its defence, the restaurant was clean and the service was very good. However, it is not a restaurant I would return to,nor would I recommend it to friends. William Wilson

                                                                                              Reservation was made for a party of 4 for a Friday evening. I received a call the day of reservation that the main dining room was closed for a private event (why were reservations available then?) We were seated on pub side with restaurant menus (patio was too dark). The service was extremely slow and almost reluctant. At one point (about 20 minutes after we finished appetizers) I went to the server station to ask what was happening was entrees. I was told they were posted to the kitchen by a young man with a bit of attitude. Why did the restaurant take a reservation if they had no plans to be staffed adequately? By the way, the private event party was not big at all; so no excuses. In summary, even though the food was alright, I do not recommend due to poor service and ambience. Will not return.

                                                                                              We were there on a Thursday evening,the restaurant was quiet at 6:00 but was filling up when we left at 8:30. We enjoyed the food we had: roasted garlic paperdelle,beef ragu. We ordered the focaccia bread as a starter and we were very surprised to see baskets arrive each with 6 thick pieces of bread,it would have been nice to know one order would have been enough for our table;there were 3 of us so needless to say we all had lots to take home. The only slightly annoying thing was all of us being referred to as "dear" by our waitress,she might want to get out of that habit.

                                                                                              Our experience dining here May 17 was very disappointing. Cafe Chianti was recommended to me by a friend who dined for years at the old location. When we entered, the restaurant only had a few tables. Our server was kind and much of this is not her fault as it seemed she was alone on table service. We shared two appetizers and one pasta dish. One appetizer was luke warm (fishcakes) and the chicken in the pasta dish was overcooked and dry. We would’ve expressed concern but nobody came to check on how we enjoyed the food. No offer for more water or wine. Just nothing. The table that arrived next to us while we dined was seated at a table that had not been wiped.. no cutlery etc For not being busy these things should not happen. Our server cleared our plates and we asked the bill. At this point we did not want replacement because we waited so long to be acknowledged after the meal. We asked for the bill but then had to ask again the gentleman who appeared to be hosting/resetting tables. Instead of him getting the bill he got the server who was already MIA to bring it to us even though we expressed we had waited for some time already! The ambience is very dull and despite 3 people working ZERO had awareness for the needs of their guests. For the price there are WAY better options in Halifax!!!!! Save your $!

                                                                                              We were very impressed with our first visit to Cafe Chianti. Service, food and ambiance were wonderful. The seafood linguini was the best I’ve had in many years.

                                                                                              We went for the special Women’s Day menu. It was a lovely gesture of the restaurant to offer a complimentary main course with the purchase of an appetizer and drink. Our server Michelle was attentive and pleasant and service was efficient. I enjoyed the arancini -a filling appetizer! The chianti was a perfect pairing.
