At Cafe Amaro we specialize in making Italian brick-oven pizza in Boston's North End. Be seated outdoors, or in our intimate, relaxed indoor dining room, with tall open windows facing Hanover St. Start off with select cocktails, beer, or fine wine. Great meal! The restaurant is tiny (probably seats 20 to 24 max). So make a reservation. We started with the Caesar salad—which was great. Our original plan was to get a pizza and split a pasta but changed to two pastas when we saw some coming out of kitchen. Husband had chicken parm (excellent) and I had the lobster fra diavalo—also excellent. They have lots of decent wines by the glass. Overall, excellent food and the prices are cheaper than many/most in area. Having said that, this places is primarily apps, pizzas and pastas. You aren’t going to get traditional secondi entrees here. But I’ve visited Boston a few times and always grab an Italian meal in the north end—this was my favorite place I’ve tried.

The menu is limited. There are pizzas (very good), pasta dishes (also very good) and a few appetizers. There was 1 page of food and 5 pages of drinks/alcohol. It was fine for lunch. We were 5 people and we took up 1/2 of the tables. The service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is located in a touristy section of the North End (across the street from Mike’s Pastries). We liked that we could make a reservation on Open Table and we were seated promptly. Overall, ok for lunch. Too limited for dinner (not enough choices or space).

High quality food in a tiny cramped cafe. The tiny is ok, but can’t even walk between tables. My biggest issue for not coming back is the kitchen staff banging pans so loud it was making my ears ring. This happened throughout the entire meal. Very damn annoying

This tiny little gem of a place was recommended by my sister who “happened upon it” 2 years ago and loved it! We made a reservation for our group of 5 (6 is probably the max you would want to bring in), and enjoyed every dish (we all tried something different) and a delicious Chianti…our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu…and we moved on down to Modern Bakery afterwards for Boston’s Best Cannolis (vs the more well known Mike’s across the street!)! I highly recommend Cafe Amaro (which I will be sure to stay for dessert next time to try their tiramisu)!

It was our first time to Amaro. Very quaint, but works. Bryan was our server, there were a few wine options off the menu not available, but we landed on a bottle and it was delicious. Antipasto and pizza for the two of us. The platter is well laid out with plenty of meat/cheese/veggie and cracker options to satisfy 2 people. Pizza crust is wonderful. Bryan was perfectly attentive and we had a very enjoyable meal.

Cute dining area, with both standard seats and high tops. We ordered 3 pizzas to share (margarita, carbonara, and barrata/added prosciutto), and the dough/crust was amazing on all. It was thin but had enough structure to hold itself up in a fold and not soggy. Tomato sauce was delicious, not too tart. Would order all again, and also try their pasta if have the pleasure of returning to Boston.

We loved our dinner at Cafe Amaro. It is a cute little place right in the heart of the North End of Boston. It's across the street from Mike's Pastry. The pizza was delicious. We were there in June, so the windows were open right to the sidewalk. Loved the food and atmosphere, and would definitely recommend!
