A home from home where hospitality comes first. Café 21 is a sociable and effortlessly stylish space, serving crafted comforts, lunch bites and sweet treats. This breakfast, lunch and early evening venue is the place for a mid-shopping trip lunch, business meeting, afternoon tea, or a quiet cup of the good stuff. A place where ‘me time’ matters.

Booking is not required however we do take reservations from 2:00 onwards for Afternoon Tea.
Our last booking is at 4:45pm Monday to Saturday and 3:45 on Sunday.

Excellent knowledgeable and polite helpful staff. Our waitress couldn’t have done more to make our lunch experience better. Food was delicious and high quality for the fixed price menu.

Happily booked cafe21 at Fenwick. Although I hadn’t been there for a while, previous experience had always been positive. Sadly this was not the case on this occasion. We ate from the ‘ restaurant week’ menu. My sister and I selected different meals, her choice was extremely limited due to needing gluten free option. The soup was delicious, but what followed was bland and disappointing and I wouldn’t have recognised my dessert from the description on the menu. Despite being forewarned that my sister required gluten free meal, her options were extremely limited. There was hardly any course that could be offered in entirety, eg the sorbet is gluten free, but not the shortbread biscuit that goes with it. This was the case for almost every course with only a single exception. The days of saying to anyone with a dietary requirement that they have to do without part of the course, rather than providing and acceptable alternative should be long since gone……. Especially for a professional restaurant. Needless to say, it spoils your meal, when you’re able to choose more freely and seeing your companion having to do without. I’m sure that I wasn’t the only one to complain about the noise level too. We were right in front of the kitchen and as it was a busy day, the crashing and banging from dishes, cutlery and cooking was only superseded by the hammering, banging and drilling from the building work that was going on in the two rooms adjacent to the restaurant. Whilst the staff serving us were professional and polite and should be commended for their table service, the bill that we received was incorrect. The waitress was apologetic and corrected it when we pointed it out to her. The problem seemed be be due to the ‘ restaurant week’ offer, she said that the ‘ till had been calculating wrongly’ all day. Surely this would have been good reason to check the bill before presenting it to us. Please know that I raised all of these concerns on the day.

We had afternoon tea. It was just lovely from start to finish. Food was lovely, staff were friendly nothing was too much trouble.

Daytime booking, quite busy but just right to enjoy conversation with other guests, good varied menu and staff that were very attentive, friendly and made sure all your needs were covered. Happy to try new things as everything seems very tempting a good place to meet friends for lunch.will be visiting again.
