Dinner is served in our mezzanine, bistro and upstairs dining rooms, Tuesday through Saturday.
Reservations are for dinner only, please. Bar seats operate on a first come, first serve basis, and cannot be reserved.
We cannot accommodate parties larger than 10. Due to the layout of our restaurant, we are unable to accommodate pets on our patio.

Steak chinois was classic and excellent as was the sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommend!

C&O was just the restaurant we were looking for. Superior food, service and atmosphere. It is a pleasant change to be in a restaurant where we could hear each other speak—nice, background music without interference.

Out of towners from CA — had a great time. Service and food were impeccable. Drinks, too! Look forward to going back some day.

We had a wonderful dinner, service was timely and attentive, not intrusive. Every staff member we met was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We’ve gone to this restaurant many times over the last 20+ years, and never been disappointed.

The C&O is always a favorite. Duck was lovely, rockfish, scallops, crab cake, etc…don’t think one could go wrong. Service was attentive without being invasive. Love the cozy old school ambience.

Was an absolute surprise and delight. Because the outside does not portray the inside it had that speak easy feeling. We had the hand rolled fettuccine, beet salad, salmon, and sticky toffee. Perfectly portioned so that you can enjoy all 3 courses. We Will rave about this place to everyone for years to come.

Superb food, and excellent service! We were seated in the small hallway when you walk into the restaurant and I would’ve preferred to sit upstairs where there’s a lot more room.

Très bonne! My partner and I had an incredible dinner, and we will return the next time we visit Charlottesville. I ordered Steak Chinois medium, which was the best steak I’ve ever had. It’s a must-visit!

We celebrated our anniversary at C & O several months ago when we were in town and had such a wonderful experience, we were excited to return. We were not disappointed. We were seated in the bistro, which is a rustic but cozy and festive area near the bar. I was seated near an open window and the waiter immediately indicated that the window did not need to be open and that they could close it at any time if I became uncomfortable (though the breeze was lovely). Our waiter was attentive without hovering or rushing us and was very knowledgable about all of the menu items. All of the food we ordered was excellent - the lamb and the scallops were the best lamb and scallops we have ever had; both were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The beet salad and carpaccio were also excellent. Despite some other reviews, the prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. C & O is one of the best, if not the best restaurant in Charlottesville and we have dined at most of them. We are excited to return.
