A cozy full service restaurant in the heart of Capitol Hill. With executive chef Joseph Nardo in our kitchen, and known Capitol Hill restaurant alumni Bart Hutchins on our floor; come and join us for cocktails, wines, and well composed french dishes in the evening. Or if you are an early bird, we have a full cafe and daytime service offering our house blend espresso, a beautiful selection of teas, and a separate daytime food menu to help you start your day. We are open Wednesday to Sunday. Our daytime service is 8am till 3pm, and dinner is from 5pm till late.

                                  My friend and I split our dishes. we started with steak tartare and pork belly. Both were delicious! Then we got the escargot and foie gras in a puff pastry which we liked. Also had the skate good but a bit salty. Dessert we had the mousse and the Pavlova. The Pavlova had this berry sauce that wasn’t very appetizing and sweet. We were not a fan of the Pavlova dessert. Overall great meal service ambience and we definitely recommend .

                                  Finally, a new place for grown ups on Capitol Hill! Attentive owner and staff, comfortable seating and a quiet atmosphere. Food was good - looking forward to returning to try other items on the menu.

                                  Our waiter was excellent - really professional and welcoming! I think the manager - or maybe one of the owners? - was kind of odd because as we were finishing dessert (after being there for an hour and a half for dinner) he tells us “we have to turn over the table.” Ok, that’s fine, but at least offer to bring us the check or ask if we need anything else. That just seems pro forma to first ask if the customers would like the check or even being given the chance to ask for it first. Not tell the customers essentially to finish so we can get another table in. We also never delayed ordering or eating, nor did we just sit around. We actually ordered quickly, ate normally, etc. So, it created a really awkward moment, and I wondered why this guy even stepped in the first place, when our waiter was the one who was professional and really great. Food was tasty, just not sure if we’ll come back if manager steps in again like that.

                                  You’ll have a great time Butterworth’s! My friend and I loved dinner. We got the pork belly (best I’ve ever had), bone marrow, beef tartare, and tortellini; we enjoyed all of them, and each was plated on antique china which the proprietor thrifted himself (and he’ll come to chat with you, so ask him where!). I’m a big fernet guy so I was grateful for the first cocktail on the menu introducing me to “Mexican Fernet,” which is a bit more woody/syrupy than normal Branca. I recommend getting this neat or on rocks, after you’ve tried the cocktail for which it’s the liquor. Another friend and I came for drinks after midnight on Friday; the atmosphere was equally good for dinner and at the bar. The interior of the restaurant feels like it has a few distinct locations where, depending on where you want to sit — at the bar, in the window, at the high tables or on the side — you can come to the same cafe and have a totally different experience. I look forward to enjoying this variety on repeated visits! This is a spot much-needed in our neighborhood. I’ll be back every week!

                                  We live in the neighborhood so we really wanted to check this place out when we saw an Instagram post highlighting their recent opening. We loved it! Each dish we ordered was so flavorful and uniquely crafted. Portions are on the smaller end but they are worth it. The staff were friendly, welcoming, attentive, and were able to help us navigate the menu with our dietary restrictions. They also made sure to make our little date night feel extra special. The ambiance is so cozy, from the lamps above the bar to the cute animals on the menus. We will definitely be returning.

                                  The Butterworth’s Club is the best new spot in DC that people haven’t heard about yet. When you walk in you’re transported into a Hemingway style club in Paris. It’s a taste of France right in your backyard with creatively crafted cocktails and an interesting take on steak tartare that leaves you begging for more. The roast chicken is cooked to perfection with a nice crisp exterior and juicy interior. Save room for dessert because you don’t want to miss the Negroni brûlée. I will be coming back for breakfast.

                                  Excellent addition to the Capitol Hill area and the city overall! It’s a gorgeously appointed space with modern French dishes. Roast chicken was a standout. Cannot wait for the full menu to roll out with the full opening.
