    The food was good. The drinks were overpriced. The waiter was amazing. Gave really good service. We were given a birthday ice cream, which were told what it was no charge and then charged five dollars. We were also charged a table fee so there were over $20 in fees we were a bit shocked. The restaurant isn’t in the best location so beware. The hostess talked a lot was nice but definitely talked a lot . The food was good a bit pricey.

    Came in for my husband’s birthday on a Sunday night. We had a reservation but, we were early and we were accommodated anyway. We were given the option of picking our table but decided on the bar top and I’m so happy we did because we had the best experience hands down. Tyrone was our bartender/server and he went above and beyond making sure we were taken care of and was very thorough on any questions we had about the menu. He made us one of the best margaritas we’d ever had. We also had the goat cheese croquettes and the braised short ribs. Everything we ordered was divine and we were even brought out a special “off the menu” tastings of a butternut squash soup which was absolutely incredible. Can’t wait to come back!

    Service was excellent and the food was delicious. It can get a bit noisy when the dining room is full. Parking can be tricky if there's an event going on downtown. Definitely recommend!

    As someone new to Sacramento, finding Butcher & Barrel was a delightful surprise. Being in a new city can be daunting, especially when it comes to discovering great places to eat, but this restaurant quickly became a favorite. The moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The steaks at Butcher & Barrel are truly exceptional. I tried their braised short ribs, and it was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning. The sides were equally impressive, complementing the main dishes beautifully. It was clear that a lot of care and expertise went into every plate. Overall, Butcher & Barrel made me feel right at home in my new city. It's not just a place to eat; it's a place to enjoy a wonderful dining experience. If you're new to Sacramento or just looking for a new favorite spot, I highly recommend giving it a try.

    Came here as a treat for my boyfriends birthday. Exceeded expectations. The waitstaff is so friendly, the service was so great. Definitely made it an amazing birthday dinner! Worth every penny

    Great mash potatoes. The Reuben egg rolls were awesome. That dressing really stands out. We all loved the goat cheese croquettes. The steaks were also excellent.

    We decided to go back for a second try at Butcher and Barrel. This time we brought some friends with us. I put in the OpenTable app that we were returning hoping that the staff would see it but they didn’t recognize us. A bit disappointing but that’s the only bad thing. Second time didn’t order the Rancher’s Plate but I ordered the Hanger Steak… delectable. The group had the egg rolls again … a must try. I understand from our friends that the steak sandwich and the short ribs were good as well. The homemade ginger beer is awesome as well.

    A little pricey, they added an addition 4% for benefits for the employees. Noise Service was good

    Brought my parents for their birthdays. Got there early and immediately we were seated by our server who was very nice but seemed distracted. Kind of rushed our drink order…my dad asked for wine recommendations and all he was told was there was no Malbec available by the glass. Started with the beet salad which was amazing, my mom had the French onion soup also amazing. Entrees for me and my dad were ribeyes and filet for my mom. We liked the steaks. Dad ordered mashed potatoes which were luke warm and not much flavor. Ordered a second round of drinks which took awhile and came out right before the complementary (yummy) ice cream. Overall was a good experience, my parents enjoyed it, nice for a special occasion. Be prepared for the cost. didn’t live up to my hopes 100% based on all the hype I’ve heard and was anticipating but would go back.

    The food was good, but it’s a really noisy place. The inside is more like a large open bar with tables. Service is fast, but a dirty martini with 3 olives was over $20. 😳 My group was also celebrating a birthday, and despite telling the servers (and noting my reservation), my guest was ignored. We saw another table celebrating, so they do have a nice birthday treat, we just missed out.
