We have eaten here many times and found the menu choices imaginative, fresh and delicious. My green tomatoes were a bit underripe otherwise we were delighted by the meal, attentive service including a surprise "Happy Birthday" plate for my husband! Clever! Think this is one of the two best restaurants in Heswall and well worth a visit.

Over priced... under whelmed. Restaurants have moved on from this pretentious offering relying on the reputation of an absent chef. Food, what little there was, distinctly average, poorly seasoned and barely warm. We made a poor choice by sitting outside as for much of the evening we were struggling to hear ourselves due to the bus engine idling at the bus stop right outside the restaurant. The "garden" is poorly kept, hedge overgrown and weeds in the gravel... diesel fumes just added to the experience. At £75 for a goats cheese starter, and a Luke warm small bowl of pasta, with three small glasses of wine, really can't say it was anything other than a rip off. Little wonder the place was deserted ...will surely be closing soon

Hello Jonathan, We are sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your experience with us. We have recently moved away from the set 2 or 3 course priced menu to make the pricing and menu more flexible and affordable for guests. All of our pricing is on the menu, clear for people to view and make informed decisions about what they are ordering and spending. Unfortunately, we are unable to have an effect on the proximity of the restaurant to the road. However, having checked, I can see that you sat on one of our tables closest to the road, had you asked to move tables further from the border of the restaurant or even inside the team would have happily accommodated this. I have passed your comments regarding seasoning and temperature to the kitchen team. Kind regards, Maya

Three of dined in a pleasant upstairs room, where there was plenty of space between tables. We felt the background music was too loud, though. The service was excellent, the food on the whole well prepared, though one person's fish was slightly undercooked. On the whole a very pleasant experience.

Staff were fabulous especially the gentleman in the downstairs seating area. Unfortunately some very noisy women irritated but that’s just the luck of the draw. Thought the food was lovely but not 5stars but 4 is pretty good. Would have liked a little choc or something with the coffee to finish off. Will definitely go again as it’s been a long time since I’ve been and a very different menu not what I was expecting. Prefer a regular menu rather than small plates but maybe this is a seasonal thing. Will wait till Autumn to return but generally very good.

Well the food was amazing… it was are 1st time here we drove 45mins to get there on a recommendation … so glad we did we will be back thank burnt truffle you didn’t let us down ❤️❤️❤️

Nice restaurant. Attentive staff. It was a busy Saturday and we were a big table eating early. Food is simple, staff were knowledgeable about their wine. We all had a lovely evening. Positives: staff, puddings not bad, N’duja bread fab, focaccia fab too. Development areas: steak was under seasoned and bland (for £63 sharing Sirloin you’d expect a bit of “hmmmm”) and half a chicken is literally half a chicken with some oregano sprinkled on -mains lack imagination but are pleasant. This was our second visit over 3 years but don’t live in UK, however remembered the good experience from first visit hence the trip. Would eat there again.
