Buona Forchetta started in 2011 as a craving of Matteo’s to bring some of his native Italy to our adopted home of South Park. We found the perfect corner and built the perfect oven. Since then, we’ve strived to deliver an exceptional and authentic Italian experience to our customers keeping our focus on the simple recipes that Matteo grew up on. We owe a huge “grazie” to our neighbors who have joined us on this awesome journey, and we hope that you will continue to be part of our story.

This easygoing Italian restaurant has five locations all over San Diego that specialize in Neapolitan-style pizzas and northern Italian staples. It’s loved by the area’s families for kid-friendly touches: Pasta dishes can be ordered in smaller portions, and the restaurant’s Liberty Station location has two play areas, plus a vintage red Fiat converted into a dining table.

We love Buona Forchetta, but we were there to enjoy conversation with visiting family, and the normally OK outdoor space was filled with graduation groups who were extremely loud and maybe a bit buzzed. We couldn’t hear any of the conversation from our elderly and soft-spoken visitors. If you don’t mind a potentially loud space, everything else was great. Do not go if you want some peace and quiet with your great food.

Wow, what a disappointment Buona Forchetta has become. I have been to Buona Forchetta 6 times, and 3 out of those 6 visits were disappointments. The first two were superb, and they've been going downhill from there. On our last visit a couple nights ago, we had a reservation and were sat within 5-10 minutes, which was great. However, no one came to greet or serve us for about 15 minutes, and after we flagged someone to see who our server was, a tall male server on the patio was like, "no they're not mine" and just ignored us. We finally got a server and he took our orders, which we were grateful for. However, when I received my Buona Forchetta sauce pasta with fettuccine, I was so disappointed. My pasta was hard and the sauce was absolutely flavorless and unseasoned. After waiting 5 minutes to flag someone down, our server came and changed my order. It took another 15 minutes to get my new order, which was delicious, but the runner just plopped my dish in front of me without asking if I needed a fork, so my boyfriend and I had to share a fork because we didn't see another worker for ages. Our server didn't ask me how my food was either until I flagged a busser for our server and we were checking out. For a place that has such great reviews and was good for a couple visits, the service was dismal and the food has very much declined in quality. The last 2 visits, my pasta was incredibly disappointing as well. We might come back, but only for the focaccia. You've been disappointing, Buona Forchetta. Please do better by your guests.

This is one of the best dinners I have ever had . Amazing,amazing! Everything was piping hot ! Incredible service. We sat outside and enjoyed the wonderful weather

It’s hard to please so many varying tastes for a work group and everyone enjoyed their meals! The waiter was very nice and the restaurant had a nice vibe to it. We arrived at 5:30 and it got busier over the next few hours. I don’t recall all the pastas ordered but everyone was happy. They are filling! The Luca pizza was delicious.

If the noise level doesn’t bother you in the fast pace service and many people walking around with conversations of their work, activities and shift, changes tips, etc. this is the place for you. The food is great and you receive your food pretty quickly.

Have been to South Park location numerous times. Brought a girlfriend for her first visit and she was so impressed. Loved the food, everything was great. We were lucky enough to be seated in the small little space that used to have the sandwiches, etc, and it was nice and quiet in that smaller space. We love this place and always recommend to friends and family.

The overall experience was decent, but a hair in one of our dishes was a letdown. The server's lackadaisical response, making light of the issue as if it was routine, was even more disappointing. While they comped the dish, their nonchalant attitude left a sour taste.
