From the minds of Adolfo Garcia (Son of a Butcher, Pearl Tavern) and long-time restaurateur, Phil Stefani, comes Broken English Taco Pub. Located on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Lake Street, Broken English is steps away from Millennium Park, and in the center of the new vibrant hotel and residential area.

On the name, Garcia says, “I speak English with my friends, and I often find myself mixing in Spanish words because there are some phrases that simply don’t translate to English. This happens in many other languages and cultures, but that is what makes the name ‘Broken English’ fun – it is part of our daily slang.”

Thomas was the best server. He had great energy, and he was never too far from the table. I’ll definitely be back!

Great! Waiter Nico was great, food was good. Accommodating for our 6 and 4 year olds.

We like to stop in here before a performance at the Grant Park Music. We started with the Chips and Guac, which was good, but we like a bit more garlic. My Texan wife had the brisket tacos, which she said were the best she had ever had. I finally tired the vegetable tacos,which were delicious. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We love their daily special offerings. Even though it is a bit too loud to carry on a conversation, it is a great place for a tasty quick bite when you are in the area.

Very limited menu. Probably best for drinks and quick bite. However, advised if no other eatery location available.

I’ve been here before and loved it, we came for bottomless mimosas and brunch. Had phenomenal service. We went this weekend and everything just wasn’t great. The food came out quick but it was sloppy and just a thrown together mess. The mimosas were pretty much orange juice. Our server was very attentive and it’s a cool little place. Overall was not satisfied with the food and drinks

This place is a gem. Our waiter was the sweetest guy and the service and food were fantastic as were the cocktails. Loved it and will be back the next time we are in Chicago.

Our first trip to Broken English Taco Pub did not disappoint! Our waitress was patient, helpful and offered specific suggestions (and why) on request. Her suggestions were very good (the guac with pineapple salsa, for one). My wife had the tacos al pastor de pollo and LOVED them (the corn tortillas adding great flavor) and I had the fried chicken tacos with ghost pepper mayo--a pleasing kind of heat that isn't for the faint of heart. Their salsas to dip your chips in were just ok--one was so floral it bordered on perfumy. But that did not deter! The value was good, the food was good, it was loud and crowded but service was good anyway.

The steak tacos were delicious and tender. The frose was awesome. The guacamole was not fresh

Overall, a good experience at Broken English. The restaurant is loud and crowded, but the nachos and tacos were tasty. It took awhile for our waitress to first approach our table, but we weren’t in a hurry, so it didn’t matter. If you are looking for quiet restaurant this might not be your scene, but if you want some good nachos, tacos and margs, check it out.
