The Morton family opened the first Brigantine on Shelter Island in 1969, with a vision that embraced the beach town lifestyle, a dedication to flavorful food, and a passion for friendly service.

Today, we’re known far and wide for our San Diego-style surf and turf. From our award-winning fish tacos and freshly shucked oysters, to classic filet mignon or our perpetually best-selling marinated grilled swordfish. We always have a great time coming to Brigantine at Portside Pier. The service has always been excellent and the view is spectacular. My husband gets the center cut filet mignon every time we come here and he has raved about it every time. But tonight his filet tasted like propane and was a bit cold so he was kind of disappointed. But the rest of the food was amazing! We will definitely be back again and hoping when he gets the filet again next time, it won’t taste like propane but that amazing taste like it has always been.

The ambience was great. One of my meals, the scallops were somewhat dry and not seasoned and my broccolini was cold. I was disappointed in that meal. The other person had the crab stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon. That was delicious and so were the sides. First time there from New Jersey.

Service didn't seem all that great which was surprising to me seeing how you're paying 25 to $30 minimum for a plate. I had asked for my burger to be well done and of course it came back bloody and had to ask them to redo it for me. Not only did it take a long time for them to bring out the first one but it took a while for the second one to come out as well.On top of that the fries were supposed to be garlic truffle you see more like regular french fries than anything else barely any garlic on there at all couldn't even tell they were garlic fries. When I asked for my drink I asked for an orange as well to go with my drink, I had to ask the waiter multiple times to bring it because she kept forgetting. It didn't seem too busy to forget or to not have that good of service but yet service was not as great as I would have expected from a place like this. Went to a different location in La Mesa and got a lot better service there than I did at the port side pure location which was weird to me because the portside Pier location seemed more upscale especially with it being by the water.

Flew in from Atlanta and wanted to have lunch on the water before driving to Palm Springs. This was absolutely the perfect spot to get great food, perfect water views and top notch fun service! Connor was fabulous! Wish we lived in San Diego - we’d be frequent diners at this restaurant!

I’ve been here a number of times. Food is consistently good and servers are polite. Plenty of gluten free options. Very limited vegetarian and vegan options. Cannot beat the view!

decided on this spot for my Moms birthday, they were all super friendly and helpful. we all ordered our food and it came out super quick as well. I had order what I thought was pasta but made a mistake and they were super kind about it and let me chose another dish. the best spot was outside on the deck. would absolutely be coming back.

I came back to this place today after the dinner last night. It is such a wonderful place, great food, great service and beyond everything, a great view of the ocean!

We brought family visiting from Montana. They loved their food which was octopus and the macadamia-crust fish. I ordered the salmon and scallop special. The salmon was spectacular but the scallop was overcooked, which is always a bummer. It came with fingerling potatoes which were hard and undercooked. They were also under seasoned. We ordered the Brussels sprouts before and they were really good, albeit pretty greasy. We couldn’t finish the last bit of them because they were swimming in oil collected at the bottom of the serving dish. Our server was fantastic and we were happy with our experience overall. You guys should really consider baked potatoes at this location!
