   We booked this restaurant for Mother’s Day as this is somewhere my mum has been wanting to try for a long time. Unfortunately we left very disappointed due to the service we received. Upon arrival we did not get given menus straight away. Staff were visibly unimpressed we didn’t order alcoholic drinks which then led to slow service for our drinks order. After ordering, our food came out before drinks had arrived for all of us. We had to reorder one of our drinks which was forgotten. We ordered two extra sides which arrived once 3 of our 4 guests had already finished their mains. Staff were then off hand when we said we no longer wanted the sides, as we didn’t have any food to eat them with. No one came back to see how our food was during our meal, so couldn’t ask for these any sooner as we couldn’t get anyone’s attention. For these reasons, we felt the discretionary service charge was not deserved, so asked for it to be removed and the attitude of who I presume was the manager was extremely rude and didn’t say anything after this, and my mum saw him pulling a face and making comments to other members of staff when walking away. No one thanked us for dining with them when we left, in fact we received no acknowledgment despite spending almost £150. All round disappointing after looking forward to coming for so long. Sadly, despite the lovely tasting food, the service has left a sour taste in our mouths and we won’t be returning.

   As usual a superb meal and service. There was a Larger choice of both starters and mains this time.

   We can't recommend Bouchon enough... But we can't really recommend a dish because the menu gets updated so regularly. Everything has always been tasty and delicious. Go there for excellent authentic French food and great service that doesn't rush you. We love it!

   Another great experience at Bouchon Bistrot in Hexham. Greg is a wonderful host. Always very welcoming, with a good sense of humour and very efficient, not to mention very professional and polite. His attitude and manner are reflected by the great team of staff that surround him. Many thanks, to all at Bouchon, for a superb evening, delicious food and beautiful wines. I have only one regret and that is that I don’t visit more often!

   Very enjoyable, as usual’ delicious food once again! My husband and I really enjoyed our leisurely lunch, sat at our usual window table, revelling in the blue sky, sunshine and a steady stream of people passing by! We ordered from the Prix Fixe menu, choosing typically French dishes of blue cheese&walnut clafoutis followed by steak frites and ending with crème caramel with langues de chat. I chose a glass of mellow house red which was perfect with my lunch.(guess who was the driver!)). Single espressos with a tranche of bitter chocolate ended our lunch and all too soon it was time to drive home. The most consistently good restaurant we know! We’ll visit again soon!

   We eat here from time to time as a treat to ourselves. It’s always really excellent food, ambience and service. For us it’s not the cheapest place to eat but well worth it when we do. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re looking for something special and unique to the area.

   We had great expectation of this restaurant, booking for a special occasion and being guided by ratings. However our experience did not come up to expectations. Food overall was reasonably good, however, when main courses arrived, they were cold. Not warm, cold. Bringing to notice of waiter, they were returned to the kitchen. My returned dish was warm but partners still cold and had to be returned again. My dish was left on the table which also should have been returned so we could dine together. Which was not the case. The owner returned the dish with some hot sauce and remarked “Is that hot enough for you”. A very curt remark, without any apology. Desert ordered was over cooked and not in the classic French style. Being used to French cuisine since my family live there, was surprised . I was advised that the British diner preferred that way. Overall, disappointing, which could have been a very good evening, if more care had been taken, and a little less arrogance shown. Such a pity.

   Bouchon is consistently superb with food and presentation. Beautiful flavours with menu choices to suit everyone. It's a special place and a gem in the centre of Hexham. Love the roof terrace in summer. Toilets are absolutely spotless with very stylish decor. Love going there.

    Great, easy to find location. Lovely, helpful and friendly staff. Tremendous food and well priced. Highly recommend Bouchon Bistro.
