Traditional French cuisine as expected. Excellent chef - monkfish & pate starters very good, lamb & fillet steak mains exceptional. Tarte tatin very sweet and could do with being served on a dish with more ice cream.

We took four American and Canadian friends who loved it. We were upstairs with the great views and as ever great service.

We went to Bouchon for the first time for my birthday dinner & it was a special experience. Service, food & ambience excellent. Tucked away inside the cocktail menu is a list of ‘aperitif snacks’ & we had these instead of a starter - a plate of olives & a plate of pissaladiere. Just enough to whet the appetite but still leave room for main course & dessert, which were delicious & beautifully presented.

Our lunch had very much a traditional theme - French onion soup, Comte cheese soufflé, duck confit, chocolate fondant with caramelised banana and blackberry clafoutis. Loved it all - washed down with an agreeable bottle of Pinot Noir from the Languedoc. As occasional visitors to Hexham, we always fit in a visit to this wonderful restaurant.
