The tartare was made to order and served with hot homemade potato chips Endives salad was outstanding The freshly made lemon juice was served with a homemade sweetener on the side We ate at the bar and the waitress was friendly and warm The atmosphere is welcoming and with a touch of understated class A bon délire indeed

The priciest disappointing lunch that I can remember. Set up for a failure from the start when the hostess tried to seat us at the bar in front of the drafty door. We’d reserved a standard table indoor, not the bar. She tried to sell it to us by saying we’d need to wait for what we had reserved, which didn’t work because we said we would wait. Lo and behold, a table was immediately available. The table next to ours was also empty. What gives, we both thought. Our first glasses of white wine were not cold. Never in my life have I sent anything back, but we did the wine. I was surprised how skimpy and un-French the lunch menu was. We love France and have been several times, and I was looking forward to French food. We had Le Burger, fries (sold separately), Caesar salad, and pan bagnat. I’ve eaten pan bagnat in Nice, the dishes’ birthplace. Bon Delire’s rendition was terrible, the bread stale and the tuna dry. I couldn’t finish. The burger was good, if a trifle dull. Bon Delire does have a good drinks program. After the initial warm wine what came after was good. The Butter Paloma cocktail was fragrant and good. Drinks are pricy though. Three glasses of wine, a martini and the Paloma over $100 by themselves.

What a perfect dining experience! The staff and the food were top notch and the ambiance great. They have a DJ and play black and white movies, so cool. Small intimate environment great for both dates and small groups. Will definitely be back to support this new neighborhood gem!

First visit to Bon Delire - today for lunch with a friend. Website wouldn't take reservations except Outside or at The Bar - so messaged restaurant to request a table as this was to be a cozy catch-up lunch with a friend from Spain. On arrival you enter a lovely warm room - that to be clear - is not constructed as a "bistro" so much as a "bar" with lots of seating around a horseshoe shaped bar and tall tables pushed up against a wall. Whoever sits against the wall is pretty much wedged in there, and whoever sits on the backless barstool across from them is not going to be terribly comfortable. There is zero space for coats, hats, bags - so on a cold day with everyone bundled up, coats were jammed up all around, falling onto the floor, not good! Service is warm, but not terribly trained. Tables are tiny and our the three menu items we ordered to share pretty much came out all at once. Trying not to knock food and drinks off our table while continually picking up personal items falling to the floor was funny at first, then just became annoying. While anywhere else we might have ordered coffee and dessert, going elsewhere seemed more relaxing. Food and wine list is quite good. All our dishes were executed very nicely. Many would (rightly) argue the portions are quite small for the price, however I'm happy to receive quality over quantity any day! Just please be more cognizant of how little space there is to maneuver on those tiny tables and train your kitchen/servers to coordinate on PACING the delivery of courses as given the seating design at Bon Delire, this can make or break a dining experience. Would definitely and happily return for drinks/snacks -just not for a cozy bistro dinner. A lovely room, warm and delightful staff and a great place to stop in and enjoy the Embarcadero waterfront.

My husband is French so we are always looking for a good French restaurant, I think we found it. He had steak frites and i had a burger and we both had a chocolate mouse (we could have shared one). Everything was cooked perfectly, tasted amazing and the staff and service was perfect. We will for sure be back! Can’t wait to try brunch.

Our group of 7 may be too big for the place - we were seated in a corner which is fine, but the speaker was right above two people's heads and was sort of annoying. One person at the end of the table couldn't hear the other person at the other end, so noise is a problem. But overall, everyone enjoyed the ambiance and the food. Service was great - the wait staff constantly cleared the table which was great as we felt a bit tight. Would recommend for a couple or group of 4 the most for best scenario.

Most uncomfortable seating EVER, and they kept jamming more and more stools in to accommodate customers. My guest had to sit on his jacket—no coat rack. Music way too loud for such a small place. Food just okay….lukewarm croque madame for me and steak for him. Our server was delightful and made up (almsot) for the experience.
