We had the 6 course tasting menu (3 regular and 3 vegi) and all the food was spectacular. Very different and zero duds. The service, however, was slow and less attentive than desired.

The grilled salmon was very salty. When soup was served, the side plates were not picked up to make place for soup. We had to move things on the table to accommodate . Service was inconsistent. Not Taj standard.

We ordered the Diwali tasting menu and the food was mediocre throughout. There was also long gaps between courses so they overall meal took hours even though it was only a five course meal. Service was poor and it was difficult to get our water refilled. Overall a subpar experience, especially for the price. We would not return.

Unfortunately , this started really well, but finish wasn’t great. We let our nice waiter know we had a play to attend. Things were progressing, then a few larger parties showed up. We told, asked, begged our waiter to bring our dessert then dessert with the check, then forget the dessert and just the check. We finally got our check, didn’t eat the dessert and ran to the theater. Probably won’t return or at least when we have no time restrictions.

The service was unattentive and nowhere the level it should be for this caliber of restaurant. We had to constantly request to have water refilled. I would have had another glass of wine but they never came by to see if we wanted one. The servers kept dropping things on the floor. The food was average to almost inedible. We had an order of the scallops which were tasteless and rubbery in texture. The ambience now is nothing special. No table cloths and the lighting was high like you would have at breakfast time. We had always great experience here pre-pandemic but clearly they are cutting corners.

We were very excited to try this new French Indian restaurant in the city. We had the western Indian food in London, but the restaurant closed a few years ago... We also missed the modern Indian restaurant that closed during the pandemic across the street from SF Opera... We ordered the duck samosa, lentil soup, coconut/crab soup to start, and spicy lamb curry and beef pepper fry for our main dishes. The starters we ordered were very delicious. The main dishes were good, but a bit salty for us. We also shared the coconut pudding for dessert and we liked it was light with flavors. I like the slow speed of food serving, so we could take time to enjoy the food. I would appreciate it if I could order the house made chai here. Can't find it on the menu, although there is chai cocktail.

Frankly I went in expecting a lot more and was completely underwhelmed by the food. It says French influenced Indian food but the food was so ordinary. The tadka dal and Rogan josh and butter chicken had nothing fusion about them and I could get those at any neighborhood Indian restaurants. The starter prawns was the only decent dish. Even the desserts were not impressive: I was very disappointed

Out first time at the restaurant since it reopened with the new chef and decor- we weren’t disappointed! Fine dining seems to have largely disappeared in SF, but Bombay Brasserie combined Indian & French cuisine with excellent service. We weren’t rushed at all & the staff accommodated a very demanding guest with grace & professionalism. We’ll definitely return!

Sometimes, the dishes are trying too hard to have French influence. They turn out confused. “Traditional” Indian dishes tasted way better. Very promising but needs a bit of editing and focus.

Exceptional. The food was excellent. We enjoyed every bite. The service was outstanding. We wanted for nothing and had a lovely time. The duck samosas, butter chicken, scallops, and crab soup were standouts, but everything we ordered for our party of five was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. Highly recommend for elegant dinner out.
