Consistently excellent seafood and service right on the water. Great casual option in Newport Beach. Our favorite restaurant in town.

This place serves great food and lots of fish dinners. Has great ambience and the only reason I have given it a four is due to my entree being undercooked. It has happened twice at this same location and double mention it to waiter when placing my order.

We went to the Bluewater Grill in Newport Beach for an early Valentine's Day meal. We were able to get a table inside given the cool weather and had a nice view of the boats and harbor. Our meal was excellent. My wife had the France's Bouillabaisse. She enjoyed it. It had shrimp, fish, mussels, etc. I had the Tuscan artichoke rockfish (snapper), with panko artichoke hearts and parmesan risotto. It was delicious. Key lime pie rounded out the meal. The waiter was friendly but not hovering, which I appreciated. The atmosphere was laidback. A great experience!

Donny as the French wine Rep was great! Brittany did her best but was so busy I felt Sorry for her so we ea. gave her more than a 25% tip. The lobster tail was over done and tough and dry. Butter was not hot. Value for this tasting was not your usual- Sorry to say I don’t think I’ll be back for any more of these dinners. Thx!- SA

We have been to the Bluewater Grill 4 times over the last 10 years ( we are from Canada and not in California every year…and Covid) and we have enjoyed the experience every time, not to only is the service excellent but the food never disappoints. My compliments to the chefs and staff that make this a consistently delicious meal.

Asked for a nice view for our young ocean-centric young grandchildren. Celebrating a birthday and placed outside where the heaters weren't on and was freezing . Blinds pulled down with no view of anything but the blinds. Food was good, service was good but wanted that ambiance. Made reservation at 5pm and thought it was early enough to get that pretty view and be finished with our dinner before the "serious" dinner crowd arrived.

Very nice, had reservations, but still had to wait for a table about a half hour so that was a bummer. Other than that everything very nice.

Food was delicious. We had oysters Rockefeller, Caesar salads, crab cake, Tuscan rockfish, pan fried sea bass, fish and chips and key lime pie. All quite good and reasonable prices for So Cal. Only dings: It was very noisy, tables close, and service way too fast—they brought main dishes almost immediately after appetizers and salads. Had we known, we’d have waited to order mains. Also very limited on street parking and mandatory valet in their lot 7$. Spouse left credit card there—oops. They called right away to let us know. We’d definitely return, probably a bit earlier or later next time.

I made a reservation because we were celebrating our 66th Wedding Anniversary at Blue Water Grill. In the reservation I indicated that we were celebrating an anniversary. I know the restaurant get this information, but no one acknowledged our tremendous accomplishment. We went specifically to this restaurant for the Lobster Tail and thought the dinner was delicious. Our meals were delivered with the shell attached to the lobster meat, and while it was a beautiful presentation, It was very difficult to detach the shell. A nearby waiter (not our own) offered to remove the shell, and even she had a hard time. I think the shell should have been detached after its delivery, or by our waitress. This has been our experience in the past. This helpful waitress, who saved us from the shell experience, also took our picture when we requested it. Our own waitress, Woody, finally did come by with the check. While my husband was not bothered by our treatment, I know that it could have been much better. Indeed, at a previous anniversary meal at Chris Ruth, a big deal was made of our anniversary and a beautiful dessert was offered which we shared. Blue Water Grill missed an opportunity to encourage others to celebrate special occasions in their restaurant.
