BLUE MOON BISTRO of Beaufort, NC; Casual fine dining experience with superb service team, a creative and well-stocked bar, & TWO chefs sharing in our culinary leadership of French/American cuisine.

CHEF JAYSON FOSTER graduate of CCCCP; Culinary Arts student who studied in France under two-starred Michelin Chef Marc Meurin. A stalwart on the Beaufort Food Scene, Jayson has cooked at Chef’s 105, Circa 81, and at Aqua, where he was the Chef for 10 years. In 2012, Jayson and team won the Fire on the Docks Competition in Wilmington, NC.

CHEF JOSH MACKLIN, Honors graduate of CCCCP, Josh ALSO went to France to study with two-starred Michelin Chef Marc Meurin. Josh joined Floyd’s 1921 as banquet chef. He has worked at Circa 81 as Chef/Restaurant Manager for 10 years. He then joined the Oysters and Pearls group, opening Catch 109 and Executive Chef for Table 9. Josh loves how food brings together families and friends. He is a proud believer of food being a bond we all share.

Great dinner, the Caesar salad with multiple protein options was so good and the tuna was excellent. Must have venues for dessert. Great server as well!

Our table location had a lot to do with this review. We were seated at a 2 top (low) table in the bar area. Our reservations were 6:45. We arrived on time and immediately seated. After waiting 15 minutes I went to hostess to ask for a server. Server was apologetic. She didn’t see us because of the guest standing over us. Our table was approx 2 feet from the bar & stools. The people standing around the bar stools were blocking the walkway & leaning up against the dining tables. The people at the bar were having a great time. Way too loud. The 3 dining tables should not be in the small area. Way too small & loud at night. The brussel sprouts and lobster bisque were yummy. The $39 crab cakes were very disappointing. In the past I’ve ordered their steak and salad. Very good. Our meal was fine but having other people’s bottoms in your face while trying to enjoy a nice meal was just odd & uncomfortable. If making a reservation ask for a table NOT in the bar area.

The food was delicious and creative in its execution. The shrimp and grits is a must have. Inviting ambience, and we were looking forward to a cozy date night. The experience tonight was disappointing as our perfunctory waitress seemed hellbent on getting us out of the restaurant in 45 min or less. Fast food was not the goal.

This was our third year of celebrating my wife’s birthday at the Blue Moon Bistro. Again the bartender specially made her favorite drink a New Orleans Burbon Milk Punch. The food and service was superior. It is really a great place!

We drive from Raleigh to eat at Blue Moon Bistro. Every time the meal is better than the last. Judy is the best server. Get the brussel sprouts! Thank me later.
