You’ve reached the home of deliciously authentic and fabulously fresh Turkish and British dining in Stanley, co. Durham.

The Blue Bell has been a hub in the community for many years.

The main restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner and special occasions, serving speciality dishes from Turkey and some traditional British meals, including traditional Sunday lunch.

We offer an ice cream parlour featuring a variety of delectable flavours, creamy milkshakes, a vibrant play area and a relaxing beer garden.

We have a disabled entrance to the rear of the property with a ramp to the entrance straight from our large car park.

Lovely food, lots of gluten free options. would certainly go back again. Dog friendly in the bar

Arrived on time and seated within a few minutes. Place was quite busy but service was timely and without over zealous staff. Starter was served within 10 mins and main course after a pleasant 25 mins. Not rushed at all and food was delicious.

Visited here on Saturday with friends visiting from Wales. We ordered the meat feast a meal I havw had twice before, last time in May fir my birthday. The price then was £40 it is now £52.95. I told my guests that it should be worth it as it was always lovely. Well how disappointed were we all. The meal has gone down hill to poor quality meat, minced chicken burgers and minced lamb burgers is what it looked like. Ribs with more fat than meat and 4 hot sauces. I asked if we could substitute a hit sauce for a garlic as it was to spicy for two of us. We couldn't finish the meal and asked to take it home. We had paid £105 for it so wasn't leaving it behind. Well. Remember the garlic sauce I requested, we were charged £3 for it and another £3 for the container to take my food home. I complained and was told that many people have complained but the owners whom at the time were on holiday do not listen and that I should write a review of my thoughts. 1) Not all people can tolerate spicy food, and I suggest replacing 2 of the 4 spicy pots with garlic or mayonnaise as a meat feast is a dry dish. 2) My total bill was £167.55 so a rethink on charging to take my food home should be rethought. 3) going back to the original meat feast dish ingredients as the meat on this new one is of poor quality and the price has increased by £12.95 since May. The ambience of the night and good friendly staff are let down by the additions to my final bill

A lovely restaurant with amazing atmosphere. Plenty for the whole family as there was a lovely play area for the children outside also. The food was 10/10 generous portions and really flavoursome. Staff were attentive and extremely friendly. Can’t wait to try more things on the menu. The whole family had a great time

We had a 6pm booking for 5 of us on a lovely Friday evening. We arrived and were shown to a table, a young blonde girl was really helpful and explained some of the dishes to us while we waited for one of our party to arrive. We were seated in an area of the restaurant where no other tables were occupied. Drinks swiftly arrived and our order was taken, we were eager for our food to arrive as dishes coming out smelt Devine. 4 of our dishes came out after a while but one main dish which was another chicken shish kebab never arrived even though we saw many other dishes being taken to other tables. Eventually I had to ask a gentleman passing where our friends dish was as we were nearly finished our mains. He replied I’ll just go and check for you and ironically came straight back with it ? We were unsure who was in charge but no-one apologised for the late arrival of one main, we did enjoy all of our dishes. We chose lamb koftas and chicken shish kebabs which were all tasty. We asked for the bill and when it came we noticed the £25 deposit had not been taken off so it was taken away to be adjusted.

Lovely food and atmosphere the staff were lovely and friendly nothing was a problem a lovely night enjoyed by the whole family it was a special birthday would definitely recommend
